TaB discontinued: just learned the B is capitalized

So TaB has been around since 1963. I knew a few folks who drank it in the 70s. Even knew a girl in the late 80s who still doggedly sought out dusty six-packs from the shelves of third-rate grocery stores. I always thought is was horrible.
They are finally killing it off after a 57 year run, and I learned from press releases that it is written TaB. I never noticed the capitalized B, but I see that some news outlets do not stylize it that way and just write Tab.
Thrillist honored the cap B in its story on the demise of the saccharin-sweetened soft drink for beautiful people.

Their cameo in Back to the Future was the height of their brand.

I always thought getting a TaB from a Braniff stewardess in hot pants and white patent leather boots on one of the hourly flights from Ft Sam - San Antonio to Dallas (back in the 70s) then watching them walk on down the isle toward the front of the cabin was the height of their brand.
How could I have been so foolish?

When I was at LSU Law School in the early 80's, the drink machine in the student lounge sold TaB in the tall glass bottles. I really enjoyed having one between classes.
That style bottles were outdated even back then. They really showed their wear, having been refilled and reused so many times.
It's weird the things you remember sometimes.

When I was in college and working in the grocery store, there were Tab women, and they were the worse. Tab women turned into Karens.

They had a pebbly finish that scuffed easily and they did show wear quickly. Probably from bumping together in the bottling line.

Tab was for women
Coke introduced diet coke for men in the early 80's
Diet coke quickly made tab a thing of the past
I'm surprised it last this long
New coke CEO is getting rid of all the slow sellers..

To be honest, the few TaB loyalists are likely all going on to glory.
My Gram drank it until the day she died ten years ago. When she lost her house in Arabi in Katrina, she came to live with me in Baton Rouge for a year until we could get to the top of a waiting list at an assisted living place.
Up until she came to live with me, I had no idea the stuff was still being made. The only place I could find it though was at the Hi Nabor on Jones Creek, which was in line with the majority of the clientele in there. There were lots of things that you could only find there that only people of that age group were looking for.
Sadly, many of them have passed away and now they're taking TaB with them.

I predict a PBR-style ironic fad comeback within the next 10 years.

I had a sommelier friend say that it will or is making a comeback. I picture a bunch of blue haired ladies sitting around a table at Olive Garden ordering the safe/sweet white zinfandel and can't really see it making a sophisticated comeback (or even a hip comeback).

Bolton’s pharmacy in Baton Rouge was selling TaB from the vending machine as recently as 2012 (don’t know that I’ve been in since then to confirm).

my TaB story takes place on the Twin City Queen in Monroe LA circa 1976. we went out for what seemed like 3-4 hours on a church dinner cruise. i finished the fried catfish or whatever salty fare we had and my 10 year old self was so thirsty i was about to scoop water out of the ouachita river.
found a cooler on the boat...full of NOTHING but TaBs. The good stuff was long gone. I circled it a few times then finally said heck with it and popped a TaB.
hated it. poured it out in the river.
then my thirst returned and i popped a second one..then a third... by the time we got back to the dock i was like 'tab isn't THAT bad'.
havent had one since.
i still haven't gotten the taste out of my mouth this image brings that bitter saccharin taste right back after all these years!
