13-2 and LR are the only ones I haven’t played. I’ve heard nothing but bad things about 13-2 but have watched some playthrough of LR and it looks pretty great

Idk I love 13-2 it’s amazing to me. The Pc version is terrible though so if you play you need a console version.

I only played the PC version of the second but I was for sure enjoying it and not sure why I stopped. It was def less linear than 13 and the combat kept some aspects. Music was still great.

The monster part of 13-2 was awesome and kept combat awesome. Plus the arena allowing you to fight Nabaat from 13 (missed opportunity in that game) Snow Gilgamesh Lightning and others. It’s just great

Lightning Returns is very underrated. It's got a lot of things for series fans and a bunch of things that really show love and care. I'd recommend to it fans of the series/FF13.

Story wise yes but the combat is hard to understand coming from 13 and 13/2. I mean I’m a god at it at this point but until you realize you are supposed to build schema based on Com/SenSab/Rav you will struggle in Normal and hard

Hell yeah. My favorite cast of the series. And I love the plot twist with the Man in Black. Need to replay thru it again sometime soon.

Here's a category I use to eliminate candidates:

Whether or not the final boss is the primary antagonist. A "no" answer is a disqualifier.

Final Fantasy - Debatable. Are Garland and Chaos one in the same?

II - Yes. The Emperor

III - Yes. Cloud of Darkness

IV - NO. Golbez is the primary antagonist. The final boss is Zeromus, the embodiment of Zemus' hatred. (You don't even know who Zemus is until the very end)

V - Yes. ExDeath

VI - Yes. Kefka

VII - Yes. Sephiroth

VIII - Questionable. Is the main antagonist Seifer? Egea? The concept of the sorceress which makes Ultimecia the main antagonist?

IX - No. Kuja is the main antagonist while Necron is the final boss.

X - NO. Jecht/Sin is the main antagonist but the whole Yu Yevon bullshite ruins it.

X-2 - Yes. Shuyin

XII - Yes. Vayne

XIII - No. Galenth is the main antagonist, but Orphan is the final boss.

XIII-2 - Yes. Caius

XIII-3 - Yes. Bhinuvelza

XV - Yes. Ardyn

I love 12 it has some amazing characters Ike Balthier, Gabranth, and Basch.

You can make two additional arguments.

1. Vayne is one of the top 3 villains in Final Fantasy history. The only villain who has fewer redeeming qualities than Vayne is Kefka. I would rank them 1-Kefka, 2-Ardyn, 3-Vayne.

2. Larsa is the best character in the game.

Yu yevon was the antagonist the whole time. Sin/Jecht just the puppet/protector. Nothing was ruined as everything happened as it should. Defeating only sin would have been pointless as the whole game mentions from the very start....it comes back. Had to kill the source.

No Jecht = No Tidus. Tidus couldn't have given two shits about Yu Yevon until his father took him.

Now was Yu yevon some badass? No. Was Yu yevon a vital part of the story 100%. The story exist because of Yu yevon. Tidus/jecht creation to preserve the memory of Zanarkand. The pulling of Jecht to Spira. Don’t forget Jecht was a good guy man. He willingly became sin after becoming a guardian like Tidus. He brought Aaron to Zanarkand to bring tidus to Spira to save the day.

Played they OG 7 back in May and I enjoyed it a lot, especially all the hidden stuff. But I believe it is pretty overrated. Glad I finally was able to beat the Ruby Weapon this time around. Had no clue that mfer countered knights of the round. Those items that paralyze enemies + the item glitch is such a godsend

I really liked the battle system of FF12. It felt like an automated version of the classic turn based system.

Yes, but that's like saying Zemus was behind everything in 4 because he brainwashed Golbez.
