Hawaii is cancelling their August 1st “reopening”

Perhaps the most liberal state government in the land, Hawaii, was supposed to reopen to non-residents on August 1st. You would need a negative Covid test within 72 hours.
They are now cancelling due to “surging numbers”. The Hawaii economy is on the verge of collapse and businesses are going out of business in droves. Hotels are panicking.
Part of that Surging numbers excuse is a lie. The reality coming out is they had no plan whatsoever in place to implement the plan despite having months. None. Zero.
Second one of the driving forces behind the delay: Tulsi Gabbard. A purely political move obviously to make sure the economy falls further into collapse and unemployment is extended indefinitely
These people are so transparent.

Speaking of Hawaii and their economy....I got rear-ended a couple months ago. Been in a fight with Allstate since it happened, that was the carrier for the guy who caused it. I finally was able to drop my truck off today to begin repairs. When they dropped me off at Enterprise to get my rental I noticed almost every vehicle in the lot had Hawaii plates. I asked the lady helping me how rentals from Hawaii end up here; she said that due to Hawaii having no tourism industry right now, Enterprise had all their cars shipped back over here so they could actually be used.

I have plane tickets for my family vacation to Kauai in October. I told my wife that they would shut it down again. I have been there just about every year since 2005. I am so sad for the people who live there. I mean...just about every business is reliant on visitors. The grocery stores, the gas stations, restaurants, home rentals, hotels, resorts, boutiques, shops, etc.. It will takes years to recover from this type of orchestrated economic collapse.

Alaska is struggling but allowing people to come. You have to take a COVID test upon landing and have to quarantine until your results are back, or provide COVID test results in the past 3 days of arrival. It’s ridiculous because you could get the rona in Seattle, Minneapolis, etc. and get to Anchorage or Fairbanks with one flight, so that 3 day prior test can be completely useless.

You are right. I told my wife about the shutdown after I wrote this post. I told her we need to reschedule to another destination because even if they do reopen to where you have to have the test within 72 hours of arrival, one of us(if not several) will test positive. I don’t trust that it won’t happen due to the amount of false positives being discovered. I told her that I don’t feel sorry for most of them because they voted for it. Probably going to reschedule to Sedona.
