quote:

Speaker Nancy Pelosi's announcement Tuesday that the full House would vote on sending the articles of impeachment against Donald Trump to the Senate this week -- a move that will formally trigger the start of the trial against the President in the upper chamber -- amounts to a stark concession that her plan to delay that action for nearly a month failed.

quote:

Which left Pelosi hung out to dry. The leverage she imagined she possessed to get McConnell to accede to her wishes didn't exist. McConnell was perfectly happy waiting while Pelosi held on to the articles of impeachment, probably believing rightly that these sorts of delaying tactics would look like just more Washington funny business to the average person. And he knew that whenever she decided to send the articles over, he had a majority waiting to open the trial without any promises made on witnesses.

Normally, betting on bluffing Republicans into folding is a solid strategy.

It really hasn’t been for the past 3+ years though.

With everything else going on in the world, her plan to keep the peach mint relevant seems to have fallen through.

If by "fair" you mean dismissed immediately... we can only hope. Right? Sham charges deserve nothing better.

We need to vote on this impeachment to find out what's in it

It's almost impossible to believe that the Democrats didn't realize that delaying sending the articles over after rushing the articles using the argument that it was basically an emergency pretty much made them look ridiculous

It's like saying you went to your 2-minute offense because you needed to run the clock out

fair to whom? The right to a fair trial extends to the defendant, not the prosecution

By holding on to it using it for leverage makes it seem disingenuous to the average dumbass American.

Basically, Nancy’s tactic was:
If you don’t promise to do what I say, I won’t send you this thing you don’t want.

In fairness, was the rabbit as wasted as Nances?

(in full disclosure, or as wasted as I was last night?)

But - and I can't stress this enough - one cannot overestimate the Republicans' ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, especially in the Senate. Merrick Garland and the Kavanaugh confirmation are the exceptions that prove this rule.
