So many people have been talking about how lashing out at Iran is a bad idea. I think it’s worth mentioning though that no strategy has ever consistently been able to outperform tit-for-tat with slight forgiveness at a prisoners dilemma (which this situation roughly models to).

There are lots of ways where escalating threats decreases dangers instead of increasing them. Blind pacifism in the face of aggressors is not a strategy, and usually invites more bloodshed than postures that include deterrence.

People would realize this if they bothered to read more world history.

I posted in another thread about how society there is based on what we call "machismo". To approach dealing with them without understanding this is to continue failing in negotiations with them.

Even when utterly beaten their ego will not allow them to not attempt to save face in some way. You either give them a route to do so or they will make one (regardless of how ridiculous it is).

This is why there will be no WW3 with them. They will spew their rhetoric, they will toss rocks from dark alleys then scurry away, but they will not confront us directly on the battlefield because they know they will lose.

The thing to understand in all of this is that the harder you hit them back, the weaker their eventual retaliation will be once they realize you aren't going to be reluctant to hit back forcefully.

The message has been sent. If the Mullahs react stupidly, they'll be decapitated. They can't openly flaunt about causing mayhem, not with Trump driving the train. We can reach out and touch them anywhere. No place to hide.

Democrats appear to be high and dry when it comes to finding an issue to latch onto for the election.

- Muh Russians didn’t pan out
- Ukraine was a dud
- The economy is doing well
- The impeachment is actually a net negative for them
- The embassy attack was handled far more competently than Benghazi
- Average Americans trust the left wing media about as much as they trust congress.

This appeasement crap has been going on since at least Vietnam. It’s time to step up and do what we can do militarily without all this appeasement crap. The previous posters are exactly right. Appeasement emboldens these mini tyrants. Crush these assholes and be done with them.

Given today’s technology I doubt Iran’s leaders can take a crap with out us knowing how much toilet paper they use or how many flushes it takes. Iranians/North Koreans/XYZ need to know that if they frick with us we’ll destroy their sorry asses. If Nixon had not been a paranoid idiot we probably wouldn’t have all this politically correct shite still going on. Nixon gave the left the ammunition to create a sellable assumption that the right was wrong. We as a country have had to deal with that ever since. The media for the most part are traitors.
