IMO you have to be absolutely in love with that vehicle to pay sticker (or above).
Nothing in the manufacture’s history indicates this will be a good deal for you going forward. Kia has made their way by offering discounts and great warranties.
I’m not trying to knock Kia as much as I am trying to discourage you from paying more than necessary for a vehicle because of its new model popularity, this is the money board after all. That will fade in the next few years and they will work out some kinks.

FWIW, Consumer Reports has the 2020 Telluride rated as the #1 Mid-sized SUV right now.
Consumer Reports are a bunch of frauds. The never rank a domestic product over a foreign model.
They are good vehicles for the money at MSRP. 3K above may be different. The big question is how fast will it depreciate.
KIA makes a good vehicle for the price. But will never be a great vehicle as compared to their competition as far as handling, performance and ergonomics.

People are buying it like crazy because it resembles a Range Rover. People are stupid don’t be stupid. It’s still a damn Kia.

The warranty is really good and it has great features, gas mileage, size, and drivability for its price. Plus it looks good. Go drive one and tell me the handling, performance, and ergonomics aren’t legit compared to something similar like a Ford Explorer

Also the salesman said they are selling at sticker and the dealer won’t come down on price because of the high demand. Anyone know if this is true? Hard for me to pay sticker on a vehicle just based on principle alone.
went through this in Nov 2015 when the new body Honda Pilots came out. Every Honda dealership in BR had the next 3-5 shipments sold before they ever hit the lot. Called Honda of Covington and the guy said "i have 10 coming in tomorrow. 9 of them are sold. you can have the 10th one." i drove out there and sure enough, all 9 pilots were being sold and the white one was the only one on the lot. i got him to come off $600 from the 33,800 tag. he finally told me point blank "look man, i want to sell you this car. it's a great car, but we can't keep them and are selling them at sticker all day"

Do yourself a favor and wait for the new Highlanders to get on the lot then compare.

I bought the Hyundai Palisade Limited at $500 below sticker. I don’t recall exact price — about 44000.00. I get a 10 year warranty plus every single bell and whistle you could want on a car. To say we love it is an understatement. I don’t care about resale value because I’m going to keep it at least 5 years. I had a Genesis which we loved and kept 10 years [kids took it over and drove it last 5 years] that never had a single issue; then a BMW 5 series, and now this Palisade which is my favorite of them all.
Go test drive one — and don’t let all the Kia and Hyundai naysayers bring you down. These are very different companies and products from 25 years ago.
Also, if you are looking for good online reviews of any vehicle, check out the videos by Alex on Autos. He knows what he is talking about and breaks down every little detail during his reviews.

Test drive the telluride. IMO, the buttons felt cheap. How does the palisade compare to the telluride as far as these issues?

Alex on Autos is the greatest car review page on the web. He is fantastic and does a tremendous job reviewing every detail.

The Palisade interior is beautiful. Nothing feels cheap. It looks like a luxury car on the inside.

Bought my wife a brand new Kia Optima (modestly equipped) in the summer of 2013. Paid it off in Fall of 2019. Turned around and bought her a brand new (loaded out) Kia Optima.
Neither car gave-or has given-us the first problem. The warranty was and is fantastic. Oil changes at the dealership. Little to no maintenance.
Her car note was/is sub $300. All-Star built a brand new Kia/Nissan Dealership less than 5 miles from the house here off Juban in LP. The service department there has been absolutely great.
No complaints from me out of our purchases. She’s a daily driver. Not hard on a car but 20+ I-10/I-12 mile commute daily. Can’t recommend them or the All-Star Kia dealership at Juban Crossing enough.
For folks keeping track, we financed $16k on her first car (sticker was $24K) and then $16K again (on a $32K sticker).

Here is the crazy part...I just went through the build and price on the kia page. A topped out SX (top model) is around $42,000. That is still over $20,000 less than what my Lexus cost when it was new (in 2003). I don't know how well these things are going go hold up...but the price point seems pretty good relative to the rest of the market. You can get 2 Tellurides for less than one Land Cruiser.
Now...that being said...I would still rather have my 16 year old LX 470.
