Hard not to wonder if Thomas ends up like Jeremy Combs and Danya Kingsby. Hopefully, he recovers and can contribute here.

Is this code for something? Seems like we've heard this term a good bit under the Will Wade regime.

Not to knock him but he was never going to do much of anything here, it was a very late add because we were desperate for any big body. He averaged like 6 and 4 in JUCO.

Wade said he wants to sign 6-7 players this class and we only have 3 scholarship seniors plus 1 open spot. It's possible they expect both Watford and Smart to go pro but at this point I'd lean more towards just 1 early defection than 2 to NBA. I think Wade is going to churn the roster some.

I think Days is another spot with a question mark. Saw him in a couple of pre-season draft watch lists. He could take advantage of this being another weak draft class and put his name in if he keeps up this promising start in conference play.

I just dont see Days or Williams ever as NBA players, they just arent built to play there with their builds and type of games IMO. Just unfortunate for them they are a few inches too short and neither can handle the ball. There's just a super limited market in NBA for 6'6 guys who cant handle the ball at all.

I agree with Emmitt, but I see a lot in Days that Eric Paschall is doing in the league. Similar height and body type and Days can bring a lot to the table -- shooting, rebounding, and defense. I think he has a good shot at being a rotational forward in the league in the small ball era.

Eric can handle the ball some though. Not saying he's a distributor by any means, but he's not uncomfortable dribbling the ball around where as Days and Williams just dont look comfortable dribbling the ball and that's the biggest thing holding both back from being NBA prospects.

Days is definitely ahead with his body and shooting ahead of Williams.

Days will absolutely be on NBA teams radar... if he continues in this manner, it'll be this year potentially.

42 Off Poss, 50 points - 92 percentile
23 Def Poss, 8 Points - 96 Percentile

Super high motor, NBA range, NBA body, NBA athleticism. Can defender multiple positions and switches incredibly well. Paschall is not a terrible comp. Could even become a defensive stopper if he continues in this manner ala PJ Tucker or any of those guys. His versatility is coveted right now. Never requires the ball but super effective.

Days draft stock will suffer.

6'6"

too small for power forward.

Not quick enough to play on the wing.

Love his game but........

This subject is hashed and rehashed continuously.

Only the players drafted in the first round of the NBA draft are guaranteed contracts (2 year contract guarantees) at a set amount depending on the draft position.

Any player drafted in the second round or not drafted is not guaranteed anything. In fact, some players may be better off not getting drafted rather than a second round pick as they can try out for teams that are better fits.

If a second round draftee or non drafted player does well enough in summer league or in try outs, they may get a guaranteed NBA contract, a two way contract (2 for each team), get on a G league team (most teams have G league franchises and all NBA teams plan on them), or play overseas. As an example, undrafted Naz Reid signed a guaranteed NBA contract with Minnesota (1 year guaranteed, I believe). A second round draftee, Tremont Waters signed a usually less lucrative 2 way contract with Boston.

Unless a player is a sensation in college and/or has definite NBA physical attributes that fit their position, they are not likely to be one of the top 30 (first round). There are a number of international players chosen each year decreasing the 30 first round spots available to college players significantly.

Because of this, a lot of kids may be making a good decision for themselves by leaving college before the average fan thinks they should. The player will certainly develop their skills more quickly playing ball full time with better coaches in many cases. Also, there is at least one study I recall suggesting each year spent in college may decrease the overall basketball years a body can take. This varies by player of course. Each player has different family money needs and different affinity for the college experience and delight in learning.

Each player has the ability to get NBA evaluations, consultations with their college coaches and advisors, and tries to make the best decision for themselves. As an LSU fan, I would like all our players to stay four years on a selfish basis. But, I think each player should do what they think is best for themselves after doing all the proper research.

I cringe each time when a message board "expert" who doesn't know much about each individual personally, the results of their consultations, etc. declares whether a player should or should not go pro!

Well, I will get off my high horse and end my rant.

Any insight as to who we could possibly finish with? I've seen it mentioned that we could sign 6 possibly 7 guys in this class.

-Cook
-Thomas
-Ezewiro

Looks like we still have 3 to 4 spots available? Are we planning to fill those spots with incoming freshman or will we look for some JUCO and Grad Transfer players? Should be fun to watch how things unfold.

Looking at 247, I only see two players that are "warm" towards LSU. That's Jalen Terry, who is rumored a heavy Louisville lean and Mwani Wilkinson. I saw someone saying on here that they expected Wilkinson to sign in the early period.

This has to mean we will be looking at the JUCO ranks or grad transfer market.

The coaches can't mention recruits by name, but there are a couple of players that they feel really good about. To fill the remaining 3 or 4 spots, I'm guessing there will be a combination of high school signees and transfers (junior college, grad, and/or red shirt).

Wilkinson is one strong possibility.

The consensus at this point seems to be that there are a couple of 2021 guys that are potential reclassifications to 2020 and are high on LSU. Plus Wade has already shown they are likely to bring in at least 1-2 JUCO per year; so that would be an obvious route. Transfer is hard to predict b/c you obviously don’t really know who those people are yet. I think the Wade stuff last year and timing for him to be reinstated hurt with trying to get in on transfers.

I definitely see us going at least 1 grad transfer type route, we're going to need an immediate impact type guy for next year with the expected turnover.

See Days dropping another 10-15 lbs as the year goes by and still being extremely strong downlow. I see him as a 2nd pick with a playoff team for a couple years as a key bench player for a 3 or 4. Highly underrated for an around the goal player and can shoot. Perfect cheap player for a good team.

Darius Days and Brandon Bass seem like two different players to me. Bass was more of a traditional 4/PF, who was comfortable playing with his back to the basket. he had a quick drop step and scored a bunch in the paint. Days, on the other hand, plays more like a big 3/SF and plays facing the basket. His first offensive thought is a jump shot. without Naz Reid & Bigby-Williams, Days has played more around the goal this season b/c we need him too. so, the way Bass and Days play are very different IMO.
