So our local weathermen are still hyping a "potential winter storm"

Despite the fact that all the models are trending Southward from us and us getting very little precipitation on the future cast. Are they just trying to get people fired up?

That's what they do. Just like when there's a hurricane you can bet your arse a major city will be inside the "cone". Gotta keep people freaked out so they watch and you can sell commercials.

Yes, it's been setting up as a NC/VA/SC event all week. Whole thing squeezed from the north. Pretty straightforward for most of Kentucky.
I'm sure Oklahoma weathermen are getting some hype hate today after the models went from pounding OKC with a 1.5' of snow to nothing today but they weren't actually over-selling the projected event, the event just changed on them.
Distinctions worth remembering in the snow hype season.
