What does this have to do with LSU? Also this was a major story.....3 years ago when all this media attention was given to it.

The coach at Avoyelles High does this. Doesn’t kick extra points or field goals either. He hasn’t had much success however. Does pretty good during the regular season buts goes nowhere in the playoffs.

I've always thought if I were a coach, I'd never punt inside the 50. Yes, I realize field position may be the prudent play, but I also think using 4th down to actually try to get a first down may be more productive.

I ESPECIALLY hate when teams punt from their opponent's 35 yard line. Yes, I realize if they can down the punt inside the 10, that's good, but still, I'm just much more aggressive, and it drives me crazy.

At that age, should also never kick off. Always onside kick.

High School kickers and punters are usually pretty garbage so it makes sense to some degree to do that in high school. Would be retarded to try that in college or beyond though

It is a interesting take and pertains to aggressive offensive play which LSU has been lacking. Going for a touchdown or field goal at the goal line against Notre Dame would be a good example.

Much better than starting another hate thread against Coach O.

Some of this is basic statistics. You should always go for it on 4th down inside the 10, definitely inside the 5. You can make it less than half the time and still come out ahead (7vs3 points). And worse case scenario your opponent has to go over 90 yards to score if you turn over on downs. It’s a win-win. Never understand why coaches won’t do this except they are taught to always take 3 points.

I wish the NFL did away with punting.

If they want to play around with the rules so much, just get rid of punting.

Teams HAVING to go for it on every 4th down would be exciting as hell and they’d be a lot more scoring.

My high school team didn't due to the fact we didn't have a kicker lmao . We tried a few soccer players but didn't work out too well
