I was reading that he may be getting some looks at center

Also according to Moffit "he might" be the strongest player on the team

Goal is to put the best 5 on the field.

Gonna bet it’s:

LT: Badore
LG: Damien Lewis
C: Cushenberry
RG: Ed Ingram
RT: Sahdiq

Lol. Yeah, our best OL last year’s not gonna be in the starting lineup. Brumfield, brah!

Brumfield wasn't even remotely close to our best offensive lineman last year. He actually was pretty average. The 2 freshmen really caught up to and even surpassed him by the end of the season with their play. You can look into this with their PFF grades.

I always thought Brumfield just didn't get a fair shake, then this past year I see why. He's just an average player. I could care less who started last year, every position should be open on the OL. Especially with Lewis and Traore coming in to shake things up. May the best guys win.

agreed Solo Cam.

Could be coach speak, might not be. I had very high hopes for Lewis. Of the two JUCO OL, and I'm on record saying this several times, he is the closest to being ready; back when he was being recruited.

I think Cush has gotten much much better. If Lewis displaces him... I'm even happier. That means it's a pretty damn solid squad. As of right now I see Cush, Brumfield, and Lewis as interchangeable at G and C. That will shake out later and the list will go to 2.

But one thing I'm hoping/anticipating Cregg being better at than Grimes is the very broad 'gel' of the squad. Specifically it is recognizing who BOTH plays a certain position well, AND plays with the guy next to him. There have been many a G who kept messing up a good T, next thing you know he's at C and everything clicks. Hoping Cregg has a good eye for that, and includes it in not just the '5 best' but the '5 best together'.

While I do not disagree with your choices, I would not be surprised if Deculus has a breakout year.

Cushenberry (99 snaps) 75.9 OVR; 75.9 PBLK; 73.2 RBLK
Ingram (665 snaps) 74.1 OVR; 71.0 PBLK; 73.4 RBLK

If he’s one of our 5 best, can we at least get his name right?

I think our def and off lines will be as good or better than 2011.

Idk about defensive line, but you could argue that the Offensive line in 2014 2015 and 2016 were better than 2011.

Thanks thunderbird!

- I wish we had Saddiq separated out at OG and OT. I thought he did an 'ok' to sometimes poor job at OG. Much better at OT (of course he simultaneously was gaining overall experience).

- I am both expecting and hoping Deculus to be a much different OLman this year. The tools are there, he just needed experience badly to (nothing new or unique there)

- pretty damn good job by Ingram as a Fr. He's the Fr that gets overlooked. Clapp was much better when he was next to him.

- Just from example plays I can see why Saddiq had the largest differential between PBLK and RBLK grades. His was mostly bad reads and basically blown assignments (post-snap) on pass plays. At times I thought he was trying to do too much and not knowing his role. It was obvious to me. So it was obvious to opponents in scouting, and they were taking advantage of it with scheming. To put it simply, once they saw it, they started intentionally 'tricking him', exacerbating the problem.

The offensive line was the primary reason LSU lost the BCSCG.

Nope! The reason was our lack of QB. Bama stacked the line and dared us to throw the ball. Of course Jefferson couldn't and Miles refused to replace him. The rest is history

Technically, they didn't stack the line. What they did was crash LBs (and S, and DBs sometimes) without reads often based on our [predictable] tendencies. That and keyed on FB.

They brought the mostest fastest to the point-of-attack, just did it post-snap instead of pre-snap (stacking).

Same net effect though. We couldn't compensate nor did we try to adjust. Just slapped them on the arse and told them to execute better.

I'm not sure about Traore but Lewis will be starting along the line this year. That dude is a mauler and is very similar to Trai Turner.

I think both of those guys will either start or raise the competition up from the previous starters to surpass them. New OL coach, new offensive system, so they're all on the same playing field for now.

Either way LSU has so much more depth along the LOS in 2018 than from 2017. Completely different team IMO. We now have leaders, quality depth, and filled just about every void we had. The only problem I see is QB and CB but if the guys we have step up, then LSU should have a great year.

Our DL depth alone, IMO will win us a couple of games this year. Orgeron and LSU need to keep looking into JUCO and go after transfers, but only quality guys like Giles, and Fehoko.

If you add those guys to our 2018 class then we are top 10 this year if not better. It's basically like signing 2 5* players or at least high 4*. I say 5* bc they are physically and mentally ready to play. If something clicks for one of these QBs we have, we will be right there with Auburn and Bama playing for the west title in 2018. We also have a kicker. Filling needs is the most important thing for a teams improvement, year to year. I wouldn't give up on our Tigers and this staff just yet!!!
