Normally the prick is down his throat but you were close enough.

Was it crowded? I've been once and there were 3 tables sat all night, including us.

I got the lamb also and it was great.

It’s been several years since I’ve been but I considered it the best restaurant in BR back then. Glad to see it hasn’t fallen off. I know I’ve had that lamb dish before and I love it.

My one complaint has always been that it’s too bright in there at dinner. It’s strange going there for a romantic dinner and finding the lights turned all the way up. Not sure if that’s changed since I’ve been there.

Their lunch menu is a great deal. I used to love going for the veal picata. Hard to beat that meal there for under $20.

Seems a tad creepy either way.

With tax, tip, corkage fee, etc. it was $125.

They also have some of the most reasonable wine prices I've seen at a restaurant as well.

Wasn’t crowded at all when we went, but it was 6:00. Three other tables were seated shortly after us. NYE was fully booked. They’ve been around since 1986, so apparently they’re doing enough business for it to be worthwhile.

I've been once and the food was great, but we were the only table in there. We had made reservations just in case, which clearly weren't needed. Some people might enjoy that private dining time, but I thought it was kind of awkward.

It was awkward a little for us also. We were the only people in there for awhile. It felt like I was sitting in some stranger's house at their dinner table

Well, like I said we arrived at 6, and we were the first table seated. About 15 minutes later another couple came, and then a family, and then a young couple. I can definitely understand how some people would find it to be awkward or uncomfortable. I have no doubt that if were in a more favorable location, it would be one of the most popular restaurants in town.

I do remember the lack of ambient noise being a bit awkward. It felt like everyone was listening in on our conversations

For calling it the best restaurant in Baton Rouge, there seemed to be a few misses on that meal review.

"Best" doesn't necessarily mean "perfect"...

I agree that best doesn’t mean perfect.

Comments praising a restaurant which say “I’ve never had a bad meal there”, on the other hand, do not entice me.
