Not mine, but a friend of mine keeps getting secondhand trash items from someone who is supposed to be a close friend of hers. Like - used makeup samples from the makeup counter that his girlfriend gave him to gift to my friend, a lamp he had in his house that he wrapped up, and most recently.. an empty liquor bottle that was passed off on some online website as a decanter (came in the liquor box and all, but was empty).

A garden hose. My wife saw me put a splice in an old hose and she searched the ends of the earth to find the worst example of a hose that probably cost under $2. She said it was a gag gift but it still comes up every Christmas as to what not to get me for Christmas.

When I was like 9 my god father gave me this ridiclious carved Jamaican bat he got from his vacation 9 months earlier.

It was just like this. Still in my closet at my parents house I think.

A Bible with a handwritten note on it that said Jesus Saves. Strange because I'm jewish.

I had a senile old Aunt named Edna. One Christmas, she gave us a wrapped up jello mold that was leaking, and she also wrapped her cat as a gift to us. This was a very stressful Christmas already, because my penniless trailer trash cousin showed up uninvited in a filthy old RV. The HOA was all over my arse for that RV after they caught him emptying the camper toilet into the sewer.

My grandmother gave me a candle stand for Christmas. I was 19, a dude, and never owned a candle. She’s very well off and I found a 7.99 sticker on the bottom.

Not me, but my kid. He was around 10 at the time. My wife does the Christmas shopping, and we usually spend around $300 on him. He opens his gifts, and he has a toothbrush, a cheap watch, a t-shirt, and pajama pants. So first he's thinking, okay, where's the big surprise? That was it.

Other family members (like the grandparents) usually just give my wife the money to buy their gifts for him. She didn't realize that she gave all the good stuff to them to give him when he went to their houses. I'm like, "Are you f-ing kidding me? You just ruined Christmas." We start laughing, and he starts laughing, then his laugh turns into a cry.

I went online with him and bought him Need for Speed and one of the steering wheel/foot pedal things to go with it. Turned out to be a cool gift and we wore that thing out, but he didn't get it until a couple days after Christmas. We still laugh our asses off at that.
