They get way too much hate. People act like they're Nickelback or something on here.

Watched with or without you,my favorite U2 song, honestly not as great as I thought it would be. Probably wouldn't notice if I was there though.

up until JT was complete. That encore was very meh. Plus Bonor displayed how truly unauthentic he is in two moments:

1- not playing the Saints are Coming in the Dome, you know, the same song he wrote for this same Dome 10 years ago. Their writing and performing of that song back then was nothing more than a publicity stunt.

2- Bonor announcing that there was a "local hero" here tonight. Steve Gleason was there that night, so obviously it was going to be him. After a few glowing sentences of this amazing gentleman, he finally introduced this "local hero": THE EDGE!

Yes it was a good show, but this insufferable douche is too much to swallow and walk away from that night feeling like it was worth it.

This song was almost 30 years old by the time they performed it. The re-recording of that song by U2 and Green Day was sold as a charity single to benefit the charity started by the Edge to replace musical instruments lost or ruined in the floodwaters. A noble undertaking that would result in local hero status in my book.

I don't like their music much anymore, but to say they're inauthentic or self-serving only proves you're closed-minded.

FWIW, I heard the concert was really good. The only people who've said anything different are too concerned with politics to be going to concerts in the first place.

Haha...I thought for sure that dude had to be a troll. They didn't write that song and they played it in the encore (or at least a few choruses of it).

Yep, they broke into "Saints" in the middle of "Vertigo", including Fleur de Lis' all over their video screens. The crowd went wild.

And the reason Bono cited Edge as a "local hero" is because he cofounded Music Rising after Katrina to replace musical instruments for musicians affected by the storm.

I'm pretty sure that was a nickname given to him. There are many guitarists that play loud and fast and play stuff that nobody ever wants to hear again. It's a rare few that write something like "Where the Streets Have No Name" that get played on the radio 30 years after it was written. Yes, he does use a lot of echo and other effects, but technically, he plays very well.
