I am about to get Uverse again for our house, and was wondering if anyone had recently gotten a promotional rate, gift cards, waived fees, etc.

Just noticed they want one time fees for $50 each on the wireless boxes. That makes no sense to me, as those boxes save their tech the time and work of running wires.....

have you looked into direct tv? At&t is pushing direct tv over uverse (and will ultimately phase out uverse tv), so there might be better deals for dTV.

The techs are all idiots. Back when I had Uverse, I wanted to add a box upstairs in my kids playroom. My dad had an old TV where the base was broken, but we were just going to wallmount it and let the kids watch it up there. I specifically asked for a wired box, not the wireless, because of the install charge for it. And my house is very old so I just ran the coax myself before they arrived. I didn't want them messing around in the attic and trying to run lines up through the walls from the basement. Of course I wasn't there when he came, my wife let them in, and they installed a wireless box anyway. The dude was sitting right there next to a fresh outlet with a plug and coax connection.

Considering Uverse for TV and internet since UVERSE fiber is available in my neighborhood. I'm so ready to get away from Cox and that unlimited 1000mbs uverse is offering is tempting.
Anyone have this and any feedback?

If you can get AT&T fiber, it's a no brainer. I will be doing so once it is available in my neighborhood.

Also, for those that were following this, the local BTR techs have the discretion to provide wireless boxes without that extra cost. So if your order online or over the phone, just say you want wired boxes and they will provide wireless ones when they come for the install (and you wont pay $50 extra per box).

What about TV? UVerse or DTV? Both are options when shopping for my bundle.

I'm not sure when we started charging for wireless boxes but I can tell you almost every Uverse install I do gets 2 wireless boxes no questions asked. There is no charge that I put through and the few times when I have needed to talk to support techs to change orders they have said there are no additional charges.

One thing that does suck is that we have had the capability for a while now to install up to 5 wireless boxes in addition to the wired dvr. Of course at&t is gonna at&t, and we have not seen the 7105 set top box that we need for this configuration in over a year. In order to do 5 you must have 2 7005 Wi-Fi set top boxes and 3 7105 Wi-Fi set top boxes.

i chose DTV, but i live in los angeles and am not concerned about weather outages.

DTV picture quality is slightly better than uverse, and nfl sunday ticket made it a no-brainer. Pricing was about the same otherwise.

This is true. I wouldnt do UVERSE TV. All AT&T resources and money on the TV product is going to DTV. The new genie 2 cam e out in August and features two 4k streams. Its sweet.

Free NFL ticket. Also if you have AT&T wireless and upgrade to the unlimited plus plan then you get $25 off and free HBO for life

Since you have had Uverse in the past, you probably already know this, but just in case...

If you get the Cisco 7005 wireless set top boxes (which is what they typically give you), you can only have two of them on your set-up. There are newer wireless STBs (I forget the number) that allow you to have up to five, but those are hard to find.

We just added a fifth overall STB. When I called customer service, they looked at the account and said they could add another wireless box (would give us two wired and 3 wireless). When it got here, it was a 7005 and would connect to the WAP, but not to the TV service. I called to complain, they sent a tech out, who brought me a wired box.

I was pricing it out on the website, and you can get up to 4 wired boxes with hd and dvr directv with all of the channels except hbo, showtime ect for about $90 a month. That also includes 50 mps uverse internet and a $50 gift card.
