Auto insurer USAgencies announced this morning that it is moving its Baton Rouge offices downtown. The Plano, Texas-based company will occupy two floors of the 440 on Third development underway at 440 Third St. It also says it has secured naming rights to the building, which was formerly known as the Capital One Building, and will rename it the USAgencies Building. As recently reported, the mixed-use development is fully under construction and on track for completion by the end of the year. Dyke Nelson is spearheading the project, which will include 65 luxury apartments, retail space and offices. It will also be home to downtown's only grocery store, a Matherne's Supermarket, which will be located on the ground floor of the building and is expected to open this fall. The new headquarters for USAgencies will also serve as the operations center for affiliated company Confie Insurance Group Holdings. "We are extremely excited that such a great organization is becoming a major tenant in 440 on Third," says David Weinstein, the building owner, in a prepared statement. "Their commitment shows the continued growth of downtown as not just a place to work but a focal point of the city.

I was worried there for a moment, I thought by "USAgencies" you meant more FedGov bureaucrats taking over.

So does Kip play any role in these businesses coming to BR, or is this all the Jindal administration? I know I've seen the Jindal administration get credit in the past on some of the other incoming businesses.

Where are their current offices? It reads as though they're just moving offices already in Baton Rouge to a downtown location, not moving them into the city, for those of you confused.

Jindal Admin will take credit for it assuming they receive any incentives from the state, but these type and size projects are usually led by the local officials and their staff.

ETA: It appears as though this is just an office relocation within the Parish so no one really gets "credit".

100% credit to Jindal.

I'm sure the execs saw some of Jindal's leadership and accomplishments and said, "Sign us up for some of that!"

Yeah the first article said they were moving headquarters from Plano to BR which I guess is incorrect. I guess they already have offices in BR

Editor's note: This story has been changed since original publication to note the corporate headquarters of USAgencies will remain in Plano, Texas. An earlier version stated the headquarters would be relocated to Baton Rouge. Daily Report regrets the error.

It doesn't really matter who is responsible as everyone will take credit. Jindal, Kip, Landrieu, Diaper Boy, LED, BRAF, BRAC, BRED, DDD, etc. will all use it to their advantage.
