Want to make reservations so I've narrowed it down to SoLou and Overpass Merchant.

What say the F&D board?

Both are good, but SoLou seems much harder hit by the employee issues than Merchant.

Kalurah Street brunch is pretty good, and they’re never crazy packed. Although parking is iffy.

I haven’t done brunch yet, but the new Jubans is gorgeous and was delicious.

Beausoleil.

Stabs (live singer in the bar, but it’s only parties of 4 or less in there).

Digiulio serves creamed spinach on Sundays only, and it is the best creamed spinach around.

A cup of that with a biscuit on the side is what I noticed all the old men who go every Sunday order, so I tried it out and it makes for a solid breakfast.

Can't comment on their brunch, but went to SoLou last night for the first time, and the service was great. Very quick, no long waits on anything. I'll be back.

No Beer Garden? It’s the premier brunch spot imo. Though, I think service has declined recently. Anyone noticed this?

Would love to do Digulios but they don't take reservations. We have a flight so the timeline is tight. Decided on Merchant. Try SoLou next time. Thanks for the feedback.

Service at Beer Garden was fine for me last week, but they definitely employ the most eccentric group of people.

They are slow on Sundays. You’d have been fine. But Merchant does a great brunch so I’m sure it was good.

I went to Beer Garden on Saturday night - service was really good, although they were not as crowded as I’d thought they’d be.

So we ended up going to Merchant. Not sure if it was the Garth craziness or they were having a bad day but we were not impressed. They were only allowing orders off the brunch menu but they were out of a few key items. Ended up ordering the curds, chicken biscuit and shrimp and grits. Curds and chicken biscuit were really greasy, chicken had no flavor and the shrimp and grits were good but nothing stellar. I guess I’ll give it another shot but it certainly didn’t live up to the hype.

Don't feel bad - I went to Merchant once and wasn't impressed, either. I haven't been back.

Every time I pass by the beer garden lately the line is out the door. Easier to just hit another place for drinks and food

Overpass Merchant definitely does not salt their food very well and often lacking other seasoning as well. The burger is always well cooked, as is their chicken for the sandwich but it is annoying when they can't even sprinkle some salt into it.

Their steam buns are the best thing they serve. That's all I'd go back for at this point.
