A recent social media post ...
A favorite stop on our recent Southwestern USA adventure was Monument Valley on the Arizona/Utah border, and I acquired two small tubes of the valley's red sand before we departed in prep for Vonnie's Christmas gift. That iron oxide-enriched siltstone is more than beautiful in a Mars-like way ... it was cut from the scenic buttes themselves over millions of years via erosion, and it is today the sacred soil of the Navajo Nation. In other words, this sand is equally breathtaking historically, culturally and spiritually. A vial of the soil now sits inside this custom Southwestern-themed piece I made, to house the first set of Coil Shack for Telecaster pickups hand-wound by Vonnie herself. Fender's traditional "seafoam green" takes on the look of Native American turquoise when heavily relic'ed and adorned with tarnished copper hardware (!). The lightweight ash body is mated to a traditional maple neck that perfectly matches the hue of the Valley thanks to a dye I infused with the soil itself. Look in the photos of it next to raw maple for comparison. And as fate and spirit would have it, it is among the best Telecaster guitars I have ever heard or felt (Von's pickups sound incredible!).

I love the turquoise color, but especially the look of the natural turquoise stone. When I was spending a lot of time in Az. and NM. I was a sucker for the ol guys selling that stuff.
I've been spending a lot of time studying how I might be able to get that realistic look, using a good basecoat and some water immersion.

These things are depreciating really bad now too. That is a sign they are selling for too much. Fenders used to hold their value pretty well, but now, you buy a USA Fender for around $2,000 and if you had to sell, even within a year in like new condition, you won't be able to get more than $1,500 for it. Don't know if other guitars are seeing the same thing.

But,..id play a fender over a damn BC Rich.
Worst feeling guitar/bass brand on the planet. Anyone playing these is all about the look.
Me: Hey BC, how does that guitar feel? How are the ergonomics?
BC: Ergonomics, feel, what the hell is that?

I bought a Fender player HSS strat less than 2 years ago. I paid 700 in Feb 2020, today the same guitar costs 880. I'm sure it's probably other brands as well.

That’s why I only play MusicMan basses, always reasonably priced for the average Joe /s
(weeping that my $1300 bass in 2005 now costs $2600 new in 2022)

If you like the S-style guitars, pick a Yamaha Pacifica in your budget and live happily ever after.

I probably won't be buying anymore guitars, unless maybe it's a certain PRS, if the owner will come down off of his price, or maybe one of the acoustasonic telecasters if a great deal came along. It's too easy to build what you want, and pretty inexpensive. I like to look and get ideas though.
I just came across that telly in the OP when I was browsing and that price shocked me.

Might have something to do with who’s running the country right now. I’m sure they’ll blame the previous administration. Keep voting blue bitches!!!

Joe&Nancy are inspiring people to buy new guitars? I guess we will have a plethora of right-wing punk bands pop up soon.....dibs on the band name Joe&Nancy.

I think he is saying that Biden administration policies, especially with regards to timber imports and container cargo ports are likely exacerbating shortages of key components in guitar manufacturing.

So his post is as ridiculous as mine.

That tele may be the most beautiful guitar I've ever laid eyes on.

I have a Mexican Strat I bought in 2000. I guess I'll hold on to the guitar.
