I've changed my mind on BK.

Most of my biggest fears about him have been significantly allayed after doing actual research on the statistical performance of his teams. I melted when it was first announced out of 1) ignorance and 2) an expectation that we would hire someone who can call plays.
Do I still have problems with him? Yes. Really not excited about the offense he usually produces. Worried about the rumors concerning lazy recruiting in the past. But I also think he is the outside force we need to erase the culture of the program that has been there since Miles. No more NFLSU, no more opting out, no more quitters, no more overly emotional teams, no more having your freshmen play harder than your juniors, no more hiring coordinators without interviewing them, no more softness in general.
If that's what we're getting then we are about to win big. I am ready to eat crow.

I think most people who melted at first, melted because they hate Notre Dame at heart.
But when you look at the facts objectively, we've got a HELL of a coach.

I'm still not sure if that's not because of the players he had while at ND. When he was at Cincy he had high flying wide open offenses.
Louisiana puts out skill position players in spades, I have faith Kelly will know how to utilize them

This hire will put us right where we, the LSU family, want and deserve to be in CFB. We’re headed back to the top of the SEC and country consistently. He is a man’s man, imo. He will stand behind LSU and our program and will force us to be respected again. No antics, business. His recruiting will go out the roof without the academic qualifications he has faced. I’m looking forward to those recruiting numbers shift and improve for LSU before NSD. It’s gonna be a fun ride, glad Woodward came through!

I agree with almost all your points and believe Kelly is a great coach.
But, we still need this moniker
If they leave in 3 years thats just modern day football. I understand your point, but recruiting and developing NFL talent no matter if they stay 3 or 4 years is most important.
Lsu is #2 in producing LSU talent which is an indication of program success. Kelly has his own success producing NFL with 38 players in the NFL. I believe they are 4th or 5th.
One of the most exciting things about Kelly is his 10 offensive lineman he has in the NFL. Imagine LSU producing its normal amount of skill positions and defensive NFL players with more NFL Oline talent coming thru the program. That is something to get excited over.

I'm warming up to him as well. My concern was never his coaching ability it was his off-the-field persona and somewhat his age. I was concerned that he may not have the energy and fire in the belly but that does not seem to be a concern based on what I am seeing/hearing. I worried that his disciplined/no nonsense/call you out for poor performance style will require a lot of change in the current culture of the team from the last 2 coaches. Does he have the patience and drive to see it through to develop and restore a culture of "team", commitment, and work ethic? I think he does.

He will be running “his” offense. Whether he calls the plays or not, it will be “his” offense. Much like Bama is running Sagan’s defense.

Just not sure if that's as much on Kelly as it was pressure from ND to specifically recruit players from Catholic schools and having to tell 16-17 year old boys that in order to play there, there's a zero-tolerance policy on having premarital sex. Recruits have decommitted and been vocal before as for the sex ban being the reason for the decommittment. Sure say what you want about "oh they must not care that much about football" or whatever but it is what it is, a decommittment.

Hiring coordinators should not be a concern when your the best coach in the room, O was never the best coach in the room.

I love a high powered offense like 2019. But having a good efficient offense that works well your defense is not a bad thing.

Also press conferences where you can understand what is being said in plain English.

There’s only one real question about Kelly and it comes with context. He hasn’t been able to beat the elite teams when it’s really mattered. He has top 10 wins, I think he knocked off top ranked Clemson at one point but the playoffs have gone badly. The caveat is that Notre Dame has disadvantages and certain standards that have limited him in recruiting. He’s actually landed some great players and his QBs all go to the NFL but the restrictions come into play regarding depth and rounding out rosters. That won’t be the case here and he has lost in the playoffs but he’s also beaten top 10 opponents so there’s no reason to think he can’t get over the hump with the extra juice LSU provides.
