Aranda was the most popular candidate on the TD poll.

Pretty sure that's because Kelly was thought to be unattainable

One is a proven winner as HC and the other has one good season under his belt and is pure potential.

As much as I wanted Aranda, yes, Kelly is absolutely a better hire.

I think Dave has a very high ceiling, but it very much unproven. Kelly is about as proven as they come.

Definitely. Let Kelly coach for 5 to 10 years then go get Aranda if he's still available and having success.

Aranda said recently he is growing in his character

" I talk more in a day than I did in a week at LSU"

that's a direct quote...

that doesn't sound like a guy ready to rock LSU gear in the SEC battle field.

Kelly is a proven winning HC at the top level. Aranda is an up and comer. Hard to compare. Looks like SW wanted the proven guy.

Same with Napier. He could well be the next Saban, but he could be Will Muschamp too. We don't yet know.

Not even close. Could Aranda be great? Sure. But who knows at this point. He's had a 1 good year.

Kelly is the far safer bet.

Well gee I don’t know Burt. Let’s see. On one hand we have the winningest coach in Notre Dame History, and on the other hand we have a 2 year starting coach. It’s a tough call . I tell ya it really is !!

How about a YES

Then we do 5-8 years of CBK and then Aranda comes on back home with 7-10 years head coaching experience and keeps the ball rolling.

Because no one thought the sitting coach at #6 Notre Dame was ever a realistic option
