I’ll preface this with the obligatory I have no sources, just my thoughts.
So it turns out Feldman was right, he knew Riley wasn’t coming to LSU. If Feldman knew when he did, then Woodward definitely knew before that. Although he has been saying as recently as Thanksgiving that LSU fans will love the hire. This makes me think that Riley was never the guy. However, Woodward saying fans will love the hire combined with the increasing Riley smoke around the same time led boosters and LSU higher ups to believe he was referencing Riley. I think that is why Dellenger said in his article last night that even LSU boosters believed they’d hired Riley.
Shea also said on 247 last night that “if it’s not Riley now, then it wasn’t Riley”. I choose to believe Shea in this statement. Also, I’m pretty sure LSU offered a recruit last week, which means we have a head coach who approved of the offer. I can link the Shea 247 post about Riley, just not sure if that’s allowed or not.

You're giving this admin and Woody way too much credit. LSU is bent over regularly in coaching searches have you not paid attention in recent years? It doesn't matter who's the AD it's the same shite constantly because we have a greater issue at the top.
Don't forget just last year we got played by Freeman and Woody also made the Bo hire which was an absolutely shite the bed hire.

Maybe so. I just don’t think Woodward is dumb enough to let himself get Alleva’d. He wouldn’t rely solely on a verbal commitment from Riley only to be left scrambling

Occam's Razor. You can draw the obvious conclusion or you can twist yourself in knots trying to rationalize away what's staring you in the face. Riley was the guy. Woodward whiffed and now he's scrambling.

To me it’s 50/50 whether we just got left at the alter or this was all known beforehand by Scott. And 50/50 is not a fun to be as a fan right now

I was going to post something similar and also think you should add this piece to the puzzle:
O said he would coach the bowl game when he resigned. Now he isn't. Why did that change? It's possible O spoke out of turn initially, but it's also possible that the reason for this is because a new coach is already in place.

Yeah, and he's 50/50 on hires. Like I said, he picked Bo which was a terrible choice and O/Woody got played with Freeman last year and now obviously Riley.
Football is your money sport. He's hired to get it right here. Nobody cares about women basketball. Baseball hire was good. He hasn't done a good job managing the football side of things and he has a blank check to work with.
