You've mythologized Scott Woodward

That's not good. Woodward is a good AD but you've made him out to be the best thing since sliced bread. You can't even believe Riley turned down Woodward. Just like many of you thought Michigan State has no money.

Im sure you’ve never made a “lol LSU poor” joke before

Riley Turned LSU down the same way Les Miles turned down Michigan. An emotional knee jerk reaction that only resulted in a good sound byte

He hired Jimbo and that hasn't turned out that great.

Are you trying to argue that he isn’t one of the top ADs in the nation?
Posted on 11/28/21 at 9:33 am to Shaft Williams
Shouldn't you be mentally preparing how to handle watching your team get skullfricked in Atlanta rather than starting multiple threads about LSU's coaching search?

I would believe IF Riley turned down anything, it wasn’t Woodward. It was a lot of money with a lot of guarantees. Ultimately, it is a personal decision and as I’ve said, people leave jobs because of their boss and not money.
I’m not sure anyone on here actually understands that.

Don't know what his godlike rep is based on.

Agreed, nothing has been done to prove he’s elite

Did you see what they were working with from Sumlin? Jimbo is not a terrible hire. I don't want him here but he's not terrible. He was a serious upgrade for them. Not to mention Calzada sucks. He had to deal with that all year long too.
Give him a couple more years of top 5 classes and see what he does with them before writing off that hire.

People with careers understand this. McDonalds drive through isn’t a career. What I said was absolutely true especially for people that have money. You don’t “interview” people when they will be making what these guys are making.

SW is going to name himself head coach.

Ed played him from the start, so his brain has to be overrated. Scott obviously didn’t do enough reform to stop Ed from having stuff to hold over department.
This has been messed up from the beginning with leaving Ed on and paying him out fully over less time with no need to find other jobs all to get a head start which has disappeared, and we will make a similar hire as Florida or overpay causing us to be constantly looking at Florida paying less for equal or better results than whoever we hire. Scott throws other peoples money around, but at LSU there are more strings attached that don’t involve the best interests of the program or school. Handling Ed like he did got him completely dependent on these donors and LSU politics everyone here seems to think he is above.

His lore is overstated. He plucked one whale from an FCS school and gave him his dream job. The other was mad at his current school and he had the richest athletic department in the country willing to support any # it took bring him over.

Because his powers are a myth
