To me the Riley move did not make sense, but with him giving you the hard “no” statement - where does this search shift to?
Campbell, Fickell? Not sure why there isn’t much chatter about Hologorsen. He honestly feels like a fit much more than the other candidates mentioned.

If Woodward believed offense and a QB guru was best for the future of the program why would he pivot from that because he struck out with Riley?

It’s gotta be Lane or Fickell. I have not heard either of those names but I’d be happy with both. I am just shaking my head at us fumbling at the one yard again. It is unreal. We need a younger coach.

This is coming from a friend of a friend. I don’t believe him, but he said it’s Campbell and this was told to me during the height of all the Riley smoke when it was supposedly a done deal…..

As soon as they started talking about it happening on the broadcast I knew it wasn’t going to happen. I had flashbacks to the last hiring practice with Herman. Loose lips sink ships.

If hypothetically Riley had given assurances he would accept, if you’re Woodward you woudn’t just lie down at that and not call back. That was a competitive and emotional game he just came off of. In the moment, a lot can get said. It would seem the first play would be to lay low and then approach again - now you can meet in person. Definitely seems unlikely right now but panic hiring is not the move.
