Also surprised about Finnegan's placement on beam. Reagan wasn't looking sharp on beam last week..

Maybe its because its her first meet but there is no way a routine of that quality shouldn't be in the back end of the lineup by post season.

It was ugly, and it’s not a score want, but i do think judging was a little tight, especially on the last two rotations. That said, this team is still growing and learning, they’ll be pretty hard to beat come March

Really enjoyed the bars rotation - used to be the event I would worry about most but so much improved. Also feeling good about beam - kiya Aleah Christina Bridget haleigh when she’s healthy will be an awesome combo - judges don’t like seem to mark alyona well on beam so hope that Reagan can improve to make it back in the line up and give us consistency or maybe Livvy can come in. Floor looking a bit rough hope we can get kiya Aleah and haleigh back before the end of the season and get some more consistency for Christina. Although vault was a bit rough today not to worried and know it will improve. Kj alyona are we’re great - alyona impressed on floor. Just hope we have got the first few meets nerves out of the way and can start getting consistency and big scores with all the potential cancellations due to covid… May not be many opportunities this season to drop a score and also to get big score to get a good nqs

Also, lol, there is a main thread on the rant page about the Alexis situation - the rest of TD is tuned into gymnastics for a hot minute ??

Our gymnasts with 1 1/2 vaults really need work on sticking them. I'm seeing a lot of stuck 1 1/2 vaults from other colleges. Vault has always been a strong event for us.

I agree I feel like Sarah is great on vault great height and distance but despite being with us for 5 years now her vault landing hasn’t really improved - always seems to over rotate . Not sure what the coaches can do to help her adjust this

Not sure if anyone watched the Florida v ark meet but wow the scoring - so insane and mathematically impossible at times eg one judges throwing a ten for trinity in vault when she doesn’t even stick it ?!

I watched a good bit of the Florida meet, but even if a few scores were generous, they looked great. It will be very hard to beat them.

LSU will have to make significant improvements. Auburn and Minnesota just passed us. Depending on how Missouri does tomorrow, we will be 9 or 10 in the new rankings next week

We're going to need more Aleah and Livvy in the lineups. I also wish there was better use of lineup order and I would be keen on seeing some experimentation with vault. There are some routines in our lineups today that are good consistent backups but probably going to max out at 9.8s. Loved seeing Aleah though, she is the real deal and going to be a superstar.

I am hoping they let KJ do her double pretty soon, that would put us at five 10.0 vaults. The 10.0 vaults though have to start landing their vaults better soon. Alyona and Edwards have not had a decently landed vault yet (granted it been two meets). Kiya has yet to break into the 9.9s with her double as well.

Aleah is needed on floor, but the floor scores will change significantly once we get Kiya and Bryant back in. Thats two all American routines we are missing.

LSU was ranked so high last year because of how strong floor and vault was. Just havent had those performances yet.

Honestly, if Alyona and Sarah don’t find their landings soon, I’m all for inserting Elena back into the vault lineup. She deserves a shot. Heck she was the SEC co-champ on vault. She’s actually really clean on vault.

I would be interested if we see Ryan back out or some of the other 1.5's. There has to be a push for more 10.0 vaults and better executed ones. The scoring potential is significantly impacted by this, go look at the Michigan/Minnesota meet earlier this week. LSU has some very nice Y. Fulls, but that isnt gonna generate big vaulting rotation scores.

Vault is interesting, talent wise, this should be one of the top vaulting teams in the country. We returned everyone and added KJ, Tatum and Aleah. But I know losing Bob was tough because he was arguably the best in the business. I will cut them some slack since this was our first meet in over three weeks but there has to be signficant improvement moving into next week.

Is there a reason why Aleah isn’t doing more events? Illness or injury?

She had surgery over the summer and is coming off a long and hard elite season. Jay is probably trying to work back into the AA a little bit at a time to preserve her body. Also I think she was out sick the first meet weekend.

Even though she is very clean on vault, if their vaults can hit, Id honestly rather have Ryan and Brock in the lineup over Shchennikova and Edwards since both have been working on the 1.5 vault. Chase, in my opinion, had the better full last year and is an underrated vaulter on our team. Since she typically lead off, it often scores lower than Elena’s, even when both of them hit due to the lineup spot. If we’re putting Kam in, I would say let her anchor until she gets her confidence up and is able to stick it consistently on the hard mat over Haleigh so that there’s less pressure on her then move her to the 1 spot or where Alyona or Sarah typically are in the lineup

With Aleah, I think Jay is trying to slowly integrate her into the team. Obviously, she is going to be a mainstay in the beam lineup. In last Friday's intrasquad, she looked tired during her lass pass in her floor routine. I'm expecting her to be in the floor lineup next week vs Auburn. Her bars are great but I don't know who she would replace in the lineup. Alyona, Kiya, Liv, Sami, and Haleigh are locked in the lineup, so it would have to be Kai. Hopefully, Jay can give her some experience. With vault, we have so many good vaults. It's going to be hard for her to get into this lineup. I'm sure we will be seeing her more, but I think she will follow in the footsteps of her sister and rarely compete AA in her freshman year.
