An informative article on some changes being made to NCAA policies (NQS, neutral sites, and the number of girls allowed to be on the floor for postseason), if anyone is interested.
I think Emily Innes will be a contributor on beam and maybe floor. Does she have any more eligibility next year?
Claire is in the current 2027 recruiting class. I have a feeling she will defer if she has a chance at the Olympics.
I wonder if she is thinking about following Konnor's path and ending up not deferring for the Olympics. Valeri (Hezly's coach) doesn't have the best track record in keeping his athletes healthy. I hope she heals up!
All four of our official visits (Lia Redick, Reese Esponda, Sage Bradford, and Zoe Cadrin) have committed to LSU!

Definitely did not see that coming! It's in stark contrast to last year's late announcements. Based on my math, we will be able to sign seven recruits in this upcoming class if we don't have any transfers, leaving us with three more potential spots.
To defer means that a gymnast chooses to continue their pre-collegiate career (almost exclusively their elite career) in the hope of achieving additional titles/medals or other achievements instead of starting their collegiate career. If a gymnast defers, they are still allowed to complete the rest of their college eligibility (four years).

For example, Zoe Miller (LSU) and Skye Blakely (Florida) both could have joined their respective college teams for the 2024 season, but they had very good chances of making the 2024 Olympic team. They deferred their freshman year, and unfortunately, they both suffered season-ending injuries in the months leading up to the Olympics. They didn't lose a year of eligibility; they just didn't start with the freshman class they were planning to be in.

Most young gymnasts choose to defer their college enrollment because it is challenging to manage elite/Olympic training while also balancing college academics and competition. However, we are starting to see some settled college gymnasts train both in college and at the elite level simultaneously (Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles, Leanne Wong, Konnor McClain).

Hezly Rivera, who is LSU's biggest recruit in the incoming class of 2027, will need to decide whether she wants to begin her college career at the start of 2027 or defer for two years for the chance to represent the USA at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Like I said earlier, she still has a chance of making the Olympic team if she decides to join LSU on time, but it makes the process more challenging. A very tricky situation!
Interesting to have visits before football starts, especially from Bama. I've got a pretty good feeling about Lynch.
OU has two loaded classes coming in the next few years, so I understand why they didn't use the portal this year. We are losing a similar number of starting routines (OU 9 and LSU 11). Happy that we were able to bring in Ulrich. The only other team that has pulled a star transfer is Florida with Frazier, but I am not too concerned with Florida, given Jenny Rowland's track record.
Courtney retired last year and worked as a gymnastics coach at a local gym. She has an extra year of eligibility and is currently exploring her options. I think she would be a great pickup from the portal. She has career highs of 9.95 on bars (with a unique Markelov release move and a clean double layout) and floor (fairly good twister). She also has an amazing Yurchenko 1.5, with which she got a perfect 10 at the LA 2023 regionals. Excited to see where she lands!
We will lose 11 starting routines this year with Haleigh, Aleah, Sierra, KJ, Tori, Alexis, Liv, Alyona, Chase (could do another year?), and Kathryn graduating. Not only are those routines great, but we are losing some great leaders.

I think our upperclassmen will need to step up next season. Konnor will be poised for the AA if she can find a consistent vault (double-full). I could also see Amari breaking into bars and beam. Cowan and Koen could also have an expanded role next year.

Expect to see some new faces in our lineups next year. Zoe Miller will be eager to make lineups after her shoulder surgery. The same could be said about Kaliya, and I expect her to be in the AA. Our incoming freshmen are some of the highest performing L10s, but two are returning from injury.

Disappointed with the end to this season, but can't wait to see their response to this adversity!
I'm surprised that Mustari is already competing bars and beam. Imagine the scores she'll get once she's fully healthy!
Press Conference
Chase is out for the season with an Achilles rupture. Konnor is training floor and vault (DTY?). KJ did a full floor routine on the rod floor on Sunday. Haleigh did a full bar set on Sunday and is available for lineup selection. Tori, Alyonna, and Dunne are all ready for bars.
I am very happy with our performance at this meet! It's exciting to have a lineup of six 10 SV vaults. I could see Bryant replacing Zeiss (more consistency with soft knees) or Lincoln (better form and higher potential with too much power) by mid-season at the latest. KJ will be a great backup for the vault lineup with her full being so consistent. Konnor said that vault is the next event she thinks she'll be ready for, so I'm interested if she can break into the lineup.

I thought bars were slightly underscored for us; however, we had some strong routines today (Cowan, Chio, and Konnor). I think Dunne will be replaced in the lineup by Bryant once she is healthy. Also curious if Zeiss can hold on to the leadoff spot with Jeffery having more experience.

Beam was a little shaky but I'm not too worried. I think Bryant missed her connection for her leap series, could see that being her lowest score this season. Some uncharacteristic wobbles from Chio and Konnor too. I think Coen will eventually replace Dunne in that two spot.

The floor lineup will probably have the most changes by the end of the season. It was very unlucky for KJ to sprain her ankle in podium training. I will expect her and Bryant to be in the latter half of the lineup once they are healthy. I am crossing my fingers for Konnor to be lineup-ready by the postseason so she can take the leadoff (no matter how much I love Sierra's floor, she will not score high consistently). I could also see Coen breaking into the lineup once her knee is fully healed. Super excited to be in the PMAC next week!

Nina is going to be a star on floor. She has huge tumbling, engaging dance, and boundless personality. Just based on her interviews and social media, her demeanor reminds me so much of Sierra Ballard. She has usable Yurchenko 1.5 (hopefully she can stick more landings this season). Her bar routine is very nice with a double layout dismount comparable to Kiya Johnson’s. I would say beam is her weakest event, but I think she just needs to find more consistency for the upcoming season.

The moment Haley committed, I knew we secured the best bar worker in the country (three-time national bar champion). She has the lines, technique, and difficulty to get high scores in the NCAA (she could be bars anchor as a freshman). No surprises there, but I was impressed by her all-around program this past season. Her Yurchenko full is fairly clean (has trained a 1.5). Her beam (2024 national champ) and floor routines improved greatly in the past year. If I had to compare her to current gymnasts, Haley is similar to Georgia's Lily Smith. She injured her knee in September and it required surgery (unsure if ACL). Knee surgery recoveries can be tricky so that it might affect her last L10 season. Fingers crossed for a quick recovery before she starts her freshman season here because she will have a large impact on the team.

Elyse showed she's a strong all-arounder this past season. She has a beautiful Yurchenko full (might be able to upgrade to a 1.5) and a very clean bars set (she is training a Delchev). She is the reigning beam national champ and has some great tumbling on the floor. She's been a late bloomer, but I think she could get even more L10 national champs in the future.
If anyone missed it, all three of our class of 2025 recruits signed their NLIs on signing day. I was initially hesitant about this class, but they looked very promising in the past L10 season. I just wanted to give a quick overview of the class!
Zeiss was in a boot yesterday. Hopefully, it's just a precaution.
