Anyone know anywhere between Jeanerette and Haynesville that has any 30.06 ammo. I know it's a reach but worth a try. My .270 is not grouping well for some reason. I have a new scope coming in but might not make it before Thanksgiving. Going to break out ol 30.06 but need some ammo. If I cant find any might be using my daughter .243 this weekend.

as in Jeanerette in St. Mary Parish and Haynesville in Claiborne Parish? I'd say you have a LOT of options if you're willing to drive.

Good luck. I bought a 308 instead of a 30-06 because I couldn't even find ammo online.

Seems only AR and pistol calibers are coming out.

If you're going to Haynesville anyway, stop by the place in Homer called Michael's Men's Store & Sporting Goods. They typically have plenty of ammo and the prices are higher than the box stores, but not outrageous.

I go there very often. My place is about 10 minutes from there. They haven't had any the last few times I went. I've bought plenty of stuff from there.

Call Seth, at Gunsmith on Main, in Haynesville.

If you're absolutely desparate go across the state line to a place called Steve's. Tremendously overpriced (like ridiculous), but they often have anything you want. I'd bet a box of 30-06 soft points will run you a minimum of $65-$70 there right now.

My next gun will be a 308 exactly for this reason.

Post sandy hook it was the opposite. 22 lr, 5.56 and 308 were the hardest things to find.

Yep.

I think when the mfg. focus shifts back to hunting ammo it’ll sit on the shelves again

I’m still amazed that after so many incidents where there has been an ammo shortage that people let themselves run out of ammo. It’s so damn simple to buy a box or two extra every month when it’s available snd cheap. Just do it.

Same here

Find out what your gun likes, buy 4-5 boxes a year and before you know it, you’re set

Your normal every day dude isn't cruising the internet and ammo isle daily to keep up with the hoarding crusaders. Most people probably didn't even realize there was a supply issue before they went to shoot their rifle the Friday before opening weekend.

Hoarding is the problem, not the solution. Hoarders should be the ones who stock up in times of plenty and avoid the shelves when the supply is low and prices high. Instead the stupid arse hoarders go into mad overdrive when supply issues come up and horribly multiply the issue for the regular dude who just needs a box of bullets every couple of years.

Yeah... seriously, good luck. Thankfully my dad had an extra box of 30-06. I've hunted with an 30-06 my whole life, but will be buying a 308 at the end of this season simply because of the ammo availability.

When are you heading up? I live in Lafayette and might have a box I could part with.

The hoarders buy during good times not bad times. Part of the problem now is gun show scalpers. Walmart is getting stuff but these asswholes clean it out at 6am.

I bought a box of #500 Hornady 20 cal 32 grain V-Max the other day from Midway (w/ free shipping). I usually go through that many in handloads for my son in law when he goes prairie dog hunting w/ me.
