I recently got engaged and am planning on doing my bachelor party in New Orleans for the 2022 kickoff game against Florida State. My family is from NOLA, but I personally haven't been in over 15 years (before I could drink) and was hoping to get some advice, restaurants, bars, etc. from you all. Anything will help, but I've got a group of 15 or so midwesterners and want to introduce them to Louisiana and New Orleans correctly.

As of now, we're planning on going from Friday, September 2nd through Tuesday, September 6th. Not sure if we're going to get a couple hotel rooms or an AirBnB yet. For restaurants, I currently have Cafe Du Monde, Domilise's, Brigstens, and Liuzza's by the Track. For bars, obviously, we'll go down Bourbon street a couple nights, but any particular bars to go to?

Thanks in advance and here's to looking forward when we no longer have the shrimp boat captain at the helm.

That’s a very risky bachelor party plan. Week 1 games in south LA are usually moved.

-Go to Lafitte’s on Bourbon (oldest bar in the US)
-Parkway Tavern for best poboy
-Ricks Caberet for best strip club
-Superior Seafood uptown for a classic Nola meal

Café du Monde - Not a restaurant - good for café au lait and beignets only.

Domilise's - Out of the way, good for roast beef po-boys and not able to accommodate large parties. If you do go, Hansen's Sno-Bliz is only 5 blocks away.

As previously suggested, check travel board for good advise.

Don't go the AirBnB route. There has been a lot of conflict in the city over the last few years about AirBnBs in residential areas, with lots of residents opposed, the out-of-town investors/property owners in favor, and the city making some half-assed regulations on them. IMHO, it's just not a good vibe-- get a nice hotel suite or something for your party.

Long story short, how would you like if the person next door to you rented out their whole house for folks to hold bachelor parties on a regular basis? That's what been happening, as opposed to the picture painted by the Air BnB industry of quiet maw-maw and paw-paw tourists helping a poor shotgun double owner pay the note...

Domilise’s authentic poboy shop, cash only unless changed with COVID.
Liuzza’s by Track has a killer BBQ shrimp poboy. Galatoire’s for sure-fresh French bread& pompano; Carousel Bar at Monteleone hotel; Stanley in Jackson Square next to Cathedral for breakfast-the Eggs Benedict Poor Boy; Mother’s is touristy but good hangover breakfast.

Might as well get off Bourbon one night and hit some Uptown bars frequented by Tulane and Loyola students-the Boot, F & M patio bar, Tchoup Yard, Snake and Jake’s Xmas club lounge, the Bulldog. Ye old College Inn has solid food with Rockin Bowl next door for live music and bowling.

Bacchanal Wine bar with cool outdoor patio is deep in the Bywater; Elizabeth’s also in Bywater has some killer Bloodies and great food.

Lastly, don’t let Midwestern naïveté and drunkness allow your guard down. Stick in groups and avoid the thugs, they lurk even around FQ. Head on a swivel.

Walk length of Bourbon, cross over Esplanade and walk to Frenchmen Street in the Marigny for more local vibe- Snug Harbor Jazz, dba, Spotted Cat. And, again, don’t get in altercations with any locals, they will put a cap in you. Voodoo is alright, thugs rule.

Your friends are going to hate you lol. Give them that Monday holiday to get home and recover. Plus that is entirely too much time to spend in New Orleans.

If you like breweries, NOLA and Urban South are easy to locate and local. Think you can actually walk between them. Check your map app… Thinking Galatoire’s for Friday lunch AND Pat OBriens Friday afternoon is traditional New Orleans.

I’m a big fan of a street car trip and Cooter Brown’s. There’s dozens of great food and drink destinations in the NOLA MTA. Pace your selves and Slainte
