I was rewatching the Armand Assante Gotti movie HBO did the other day (1996 I think) and forgot how good it was. Which got me thinking, as I was a kid when that came out, about what other movies are out there like that? Things that weren't super high budget or on the big screen? Not necessarily crime genre but in general?

Duel was a TV movie, but it may have gotten a theatrical release. I think the same can be said for Brian's Song.

Land Before Time was the movie I ever shed tears in and it was definitely at the theater. Think I was six.

Definitely remember Land Before Time, but I have no idea if it was in theaters. Thank you, I will look up the others. I am in a major good movie drought at the moment.
ETA: Ahh Brian's Song, will definitely watch James Caan is always good. Also had no idea that the original It wasn't in theaters. Maybe it was too long or something.

When it was on HBO, I watched the Angelina Jolie movie, Gia, a bunch. Something in it must have been good.

Long Gone. Fantastic HBO movie with William Peterson, Virginia Madsen and Dermot Mulroney. The director, Martin Davidson also directed The Lords of Flatbush and Eddie and the Cruisers (wrote it also)
