I want to trust, I really do. But if we lose Riley by not outbidding OU and then lose Dave as well, then SW is not the "premier AD" everyone makes him out to be. No reason why he can make history with the Jimbo hire at A&M and then can't do the same shite for his alma mater.

The situations are really nothing fricking alike.

They aren't. Jimbo had a lot more motivation for leaving FSU than Riley does OU.

After Saturday's loss in Oxford, the folks at Texas A&M don't think that the long-term contract for Jimbo was such a great deal.

What AD has made the kind of "homerun hire" we're talking about here? Saban going to Bama was about timing and Bama being turned down by Rich Rod. That's a lot of luck.

Couple things:
1. We are not outbidding OU. We offer, they can match, then it's up to Riley to decide.
2. If we don't get Riley or Aranda, then it's going to be someone bigger. We're not losing to USC for Aranda unless we've got something better.

I am fine with the result as long as we throw the bank at him. If he won't take our 2+ mil a year over whatever OU offers then so be it. But it better not me because we didn't bring a strong enough harpoon.

The parallels to the baseball search is amazing.

Pat Casey is Kiffin

Jimbo is Kevin O'Sullivan

Riley is Tony Vitello

Fickell is Dan McDonnell

Napier is Bianco

Exactly, He has far more to offer at LSU than he did at A&M. He should be landing a "Whale."

They aren’t. FSU did not support the football program, a serious decline had started, they weren’t going to come close to matching salary nor investment in program, Jimbo had serious marital/personal shite motivating him to leave, and A&M boosters gave Scott a blank check.

It was a massive step up qualitatively and quantitatively for Jimbo. He was begging to leave, Riley loves OU and is cruising there.

Not relative to starting point.

He can’t kidnap someone and make them coach the team.

His top two choices for the baseball job didn’t happen either.

Worst case scenario we get a terrible hire that wins a title and is fired in 6 years. Rinse and repeat.

If you offer someone a lot of gold, doesn’t mean they will take it.

It is neither an indictment of the person negotiating the deal nor is it of the company wanting to bring over the recruit.

Employees leave companies because of their boss or the company itself more than they do money…

You CANNOT make people sign anything.

AGENTS WANT MONEY!

Coaches do not necessarily share the same values as agents.
How much does one need to be happy? Who knows. Timing in life does indeed matter.

Relax.

OU won't match LSUs offer so get that your head. If h e stays its because they managed to meet some of his demands and throw in a few incentives. Probably more money for assistants. And Riley probably most likely stays. But I can say that OU won't be paying him 12 mil a year
