Seems like they are giving him the coach o treatment. One last chance with a cleaning of the staff. It didn't work for us, but it did work for notre dame and Kelly a few years back

We did the same thing with Muschamp. It never seems to work. ND must have been the exception.

He simply doesn’t give a shite anymore.
All started after he basically called last years bowl game a scrimmage. And we got blown out.
We’re 2-8 in our last 10 p5 games.
Recruiting is abysmal and he doesn’t want to recruit. He’s checked out.

Y'all have the same problem we did. A checked out coach who is difficult to work for and can't attract coordinators.

This is how coaches in trouble tread water…throw a coach or two under the bus to feed the wolves. Does anyone really think UF will do any better with an interim DC for their remaining three games?

u aren't going to get a decent coach by firing a guy for one bad season.
the only silver lining to firing mullen this year is that mullen 2.0 is sitting around in purgatory because texas fired him late in the off season.
none of the top guys are comin to uf if you fire mullen this year.

It does...unless the relationship between Mullen and the school is deteriorated to such an extent that he can't/doesn't want to remain the HC.
Florida has seemingly been in a perpetual coaching search since Meyer left after 2010. I doubt they really want to hire their 4th HC in 10 years. So they are not going to fire Mullen after this season. But they are going to force him to make changes in his approach (particularly on defense) ahead of what will be a de facto ultimatum for next season. Win or you are out.

Well this means recruiting will be crap for UF as well. After Mullen's comments on recruiting and the uncertainty surrounding his future is going to hurt their class.
