Sweet tea. It never tasted the same once she was gone.

My Mississippi grandmother made the best pineapple upside down cake, homemade biscuits, and fried chicken.

My Connecticut grandmother was best at making roast beef with vegetables from my grandfather’s garden. She’d often have pie for dessert and every one was delicious.

Her rice and gravy were the best around. Not to shabby with her gumbo either. My other grandma was fresh biscuits and fried chicken.

Been a long time since I had a meal by my grandmothers. One passed away in ‘91 other in 2000

But maternal grandmother - anything she touched. Since my dad worked 7/7 off shore we went to my grandmothers every Sunday he was offshore and the Thursday he left for work to eat. Typically Sunday was roast/gravy and some veggies. Couldn’t beat it. Everything she cooked took all day to make. Miss her and her cooking.

My paternal grandmother passed while I was in high school and lived out of town. But remember her gumbo

My grandmothers weren’t good cooks. Best I could hope for was a trip to Piccadilly.

My grandma (mom's mother) used to cook a spaghetti like nobody's business.

Its one of those spaghettis that you compare every spaghetti you eat to.. And nothing seems to come close to it.

My granny (dad's mother) was a widow for my entire life. She didn't cook that much, but she made a pretty good gumbo, but she used to cook liver and onions the most. My dad used to love it so she would cook it for him. It was okay, but not my favorite.

Bacon and eggs in a cast iron skillet and she would make as much bacon as I wanted, so much that from about 13 yes old to late 20s the smell of Bacon made me sick.
Now I love it and can eat it like crazy ! Great Grandma, 4 great grandparents, but 1 Grandma was the best.
Only other time something made me ill was around same age as bacon deal, 13-14, (weekend drunk) I got so sick from Boones Farm and Spinada sp ? (Red Wine) that the smell of red wine made me sick until I was around 30. Now I like it but haven't had a drink this year. Doesn't mean I won't just haven't gone to liquor store.

Mom’s side: Biscuits and deer sausage gravy. Hands down. You could drizzle that gravy on dog shite and I’d seriously consider a small bite.

Dad’s side: not really a meal, but she would make batches of homemade bread and made her own mayhaw and muscadine jelly. We’d toast and butter the bread and put a healthy smear of the jelly on. I can still taste it even though it’s been a few years.

Lost them both this year a few months apart. Thanks for the thread, brought some great memories back
