Is he to the east, west, south, or north of us?

Unlucky has come alive- give us a small hint- keep this thread guessing

Dude, that is delusion, or maybe hyper-cynicism is the better word. Dabo is a top 5 coach and recruiter in college football, period. Is he a little weird? Yeah. But he is great at what he does. Not good, great. He would be a home run hire.

False. What Dabo did at Clemson could never be done at Ole Miss.
You can nitpick the exact school choice all you want, but Clemson was a mid tier at best ACC school before Dabo. I don't know if your join date remotely correlates with when you started watching football, but if you started 2011 or later you have a very skewed perception of what Clemson is. Their previous two coaches had a win percentage of .615 and .525 with fairly long tenures, it's not a large school (~60% the size of LSU which isn't a notably big institution in its own right), the school wasn't rich, and the stadium "only" holds 81.5k. Their only real recruiting pipeline is hoping that Atlanta kids won't be particularly big UGA fans (which most are). It's a minor miracle that Dabo did what he did there even if he definitely got help from the good programs in the ACC all collapsing.

Going to be a solid hire
At this point, there's only one solid hire I can think of

Which is down into Tier 2 coaches for the supposed Top 5 coaching job in the country
Top 5 job doesn’t mean top 5 resume
The only top 10 jobs that have gotten 10 top resume coaches in the last 20 years is Bama when hired Saban and A&M with Jimbo and OSU with urban
But then OSU hired an unproven OC the next time
So if you care about that perception then pull for Jimbo or Riley to be the hire

No way Dabo stays long term. He is destined to take over Saban and return to his alma mater

But they ALL knew exactly who and what they were getting

Don't underestimate that Dabo was also able to get the administrative support his predecessors were lacking.
Danny Ford resigned after butting heads with the school president over a football dorm. When Tommy West got fired, he reportedly told Tommy Bowden to not let the school continue blowing off facility upgrades. Bowden then nearly left for Arkansas until Clemson finally gave into some demands.
I'm not downplaying anything Dabo has accomplished, but that program was never "poor little Clemson". In the 90s, they were looked at as a sleeping giant much like LSU used to be. Administrators held back their potential.

When Texas eventually makes it back (and they will), it will have a catastrophic effect on ATM's recruiting, just as it always has.
You mean like when Mack Brown led Texas during the Longhorn Golden Era?
Or do you mean back when Daryl Royal was running the show and A&M was an all-male military school?
Wouldn't hold your breath. This ain't the 1960s or early 2000s.

It isn't 1939 or 1998 either.

Exactly.
Unlike the yester-years, A&M now has more money than God, a generous and passionate alumni base several hundred thousand deep, the best facilities in the country (with more to come), and a football coach who rivals are desperate to see leave.
Things sure have changed, haven't they?

The more things change, the more they stay the same.
To date, what has the money gotten A&M?
32–12 (SEC 20–10)
An almost playoff appearance
and Zach Calzada.
Congrats.

I mean, something about Rome and how long it took …
Since hiring Jimbo, A&M has the third highest winning percentage in the SEC. Is that the end goal? No. But when Bama and UGA are the only teams in front of you and you’re recruiting at a top 5 level, you have reason to feel good about where you’re heading.
Gotta love how these standards work though.
On the one hand, A&M is a mediocre program with an immovable ceiling. Second tier forever. On the other hand, any coach that A&M hires must instantly deliver national championships. If he doesn’t it’s just more proof that you can’t win big at A&M.

Cute you think your A&Ms rival. He was referring to the never ending daydreaming that occurs on longhorn message boards daily wanting so badly for jimbo to head to LSU.
