The Notion Woodward Is Putting Out Smokescreens Is Ridiculous

Those of you who think Woody actually sits in his office and has a list of coaches he wants to use as smokescreens are foolish. He doesnt waste one second trying to fool the media or fan base over who he wants to hire.

His search starts with a preliminary list of coaches he has an interest in reaching out to. He vets them thru his own contacts. After doing his due diligence he starts contacting agents thru back channels to gauge interest and to find out what sort of compensation would be required to bring that coach to Baton Rouge. From there the negotiations start and a formal in-person interview gets scheduled. Candidates are whittled down over demanding too much or a poor interview until he signs someone.

He isnt sending out empty planes to fool people. He isnt whispering his thoughts to boosters or staff so that they run to Tigerdroppings to confuse all of us. He isnt calling media types to put them off the scent.

When a coach does get brought up by medias types it is generally his own agent being proactive by putting his clients name in the mix because he actually wants the job or a raise from his current school. You guys think Woody is running some cloak and dagger operation and that just isnt the case. He doesnt have time for that. If he did have the time he still wouldnt do it because agents would be pissed once they realized they had been part of some stupid game.

Purposely making coaches smokescreens would be extremely unprofessional and would destroy Woody's reputation which would make future coaching searches much more difficult because nobody would want to work with him. He isnt going to tarnish his own career over some foolishness.
