re: We'd be a better state if Eddie Rispone would've won

I'm not defending Edwards as he's not great but Rispone ran a campaign on the single fact that Trump supports him. He gave no indication to anyone in the general public that he had any plan or idea of what he would do in office. Every speech and commercial was a smear towards Edwards with a finale of Rispone saying he loves Trump and Trump loves him.
What's worse, someone who has no plan, or someone who has a plan that is opposed to your views? Because a lot of Louisianians chose option 2.

Rispone and his big shot buddy in Baton Rouge, The King Maker, shite on Ralph Abraham who probably could have won in a run off.
--
No doubt. Rispone bashing/lying about Abraham in the primary is shameful. And don't tell me it's politics, it was BS.
He reminds me so much of H Ross Perot.

Better than Haiti, yes.
Maybe.
Maybe.

I don't know who in their right mind would even have voted for this guy
Well he won twice so clearly a lot of people voted for him.

Trump supported Eddie Rispone and we would have been a better state if he would have won.
If Eddie would have been as lazy a governor as he was a campaigner, he would have been a truly inept governor.
One of the things that bothered me is, how could Rispone have built this successful company if he is this damn lazy and stupid?
He spent all this money and put in a half-hearted effort. He had no plan, no ideas, just "TRUMP!!"

Maybe, Louisiana is not as red as many think?
The GOP in LA has close to a super majority in the state house and state senate, has both US senators, has 5/6 of Congressmen, and has every statewide elected office except governor.
LA is not as red as other southern states (because even the "conservatives" here want big government populism) but we should at least be able to get a RINO into the governor's mansion.
Vitter in 2015 did not actually run a real campaign, and neither did Abraham or Rispone in 2019. They are all lazy and got outworked by JBE, which is astonishing.

I think the reality is a lot of LA voters actually do think like JBE.

would be better with Forrest Gump himself as governor

much of Abraham's support went to JBE.
At least you have the courage to admit this, most butthurt Abraham supporters can't bring themselves to own up to it.

I voted for Rispone (more of a vote against John Bel).
Other than the mask BS, John Bel has not done a terrible job.
My biggest disappointment with John Bel is that his family has a strong law enforcement background and pretty sure he was endorsed by most police organizations. He missed some great opportunities to actually lead.
He could have picked up the phone and told Latoya that he would not put up with the crime in this state's "marquis city."
He could have picked up the phone and told Broome he would not put up with the crime in this state's capitol.
Of course, I have no idea if Rispone would/could have done anything differently.

Perhaps, but Republicans need to put out better candidates. Rispone was a joke.
If the Louisiana Republican Party can't win the top spot in an overwhelmingly Republican state, they need an overhaul, new leadership, or something. It's like they sponsored a contest to field the world's worst candidates.
Maybe Kennedy will run? He can actually field questions and respond intelligently, even if he has to throw in folksy idioms to drive Progressives crazy (I love that by the way).
It wasn't that Rispone was folksy, it was that he couldnt answer a single question other than repeating one or two rehearsed lines over and over.
Would I rather him than Billy Boucher's daddy, Governor Smack smack? shite yeah, but he was still an awful candidate and apparently the best the La Republican Party could do in 2019. Do better.

Eddie Rispone was a clown in a MAGA hat. He brought nothing to the table except for liking Trump. Hell, he can't even throw an adult-sized football.

quote:Know a lot of baby boomers around here who vote this way. It's pretty common in Louisiana and kind of explains why we're last in everything. Super liberal on economic issues (pro regulation and other things especially if it helps them) but will vote Republican because of the abortion issue. Some of my parent's friends voted for Carter,Clinton, EWE, Blanco (mostly because they were racist) and JBL also voted for McCain,Romney, and Trump.
The Republicans who voted for Edwards because he is pro-life are fricking idiots. Was Rispone not also pro-life? Was Abraham not also pro-life? What the frick, man? I just don’t get their reasoning.
On one hand you’ve got a liberal democrat with one conservative view - anti-abortion (somewhat). On the other hand you had two Republicans who share almost every other belief Republicans have - who were also pro-life. But yet republicans voted for Edwards.
Makes no sense.

nah, people need their poor decisions rubbed in their face like dogs that shite inside need their noses rubbed in it.
This site is predominantly Republicans who probably voted for Rispone, so you’re not accomplishing that goal at all.

TBH they were both terrible options. I didn’t vote.
Posted on 10/26/21 at 1:24 pm to footballfan23
He should have bothered to at least do some
campaign stops and more speaking engagements It’s like JBE ran damn near unopposed

The people who decided poorly do not care about their poor decision. He was put in by poor democrats (who have reaped the most benefits) and idiot state workers that were promised their merit increase.
Those two groups got what they wanted, and they don’t give a rat’s arse about anyone else.

They also used the fact that JBE was pro-life and catholic as "valid" reasons to vote for him. They knew little else about his politics.

Couple cousins of mine are super conservative but voted for JBE twice because of exactly what you just said. The biggest satisfaction I’ve had in a long time was when one of them made a remark to me about how taxes went up in the state and that one of them was having to pay off some of his employees because of it.
fricking self righteous idiots. That’s what they get for voting for JBE.

I'm assuming you meant "lay off." Gotta love how elections have consequences.
