Set aside for a moment whether either are realistic or not…

Out of those 2, who you taking in 2021?

(I think I know the unanimous answer, but wanted to see if I’m wrong about who the great minds of the CCB would choose)

Has Riley ever had a defense at Oklahoma?

Saban will never retire. Dude will probably coach another 10 years.

I would take Saban. Not only would it make LSU incredible, but it would also hurt Bama.

I would still take Saban over Riley.

Saban recruiting classes are always top 2.

Even if he retired in 3 or 4 years he would leave a roster so stacked that top tier coaches would be lining up to coach that roster.

What has Riley done? Gotten to the playoffs twice to lose to bama and us. Blows big games and typically loses to a Northwestern or has multiple close games to schools they have no business losing to (talent gap is huge between his school and others). Doesn’t produce defenses. Recruits okay for his conference. NFL talent producer? Meh Ed had 7 last season alone.
I am trying to find why people are so high on him? He seems like a fantastic dude, but doesn’t scream 2-3 national championships.

Love me some Saban in terms of coaching but why on Earth would anyone hire him TODAY?

Dude is exceedingly unlikely to coach that much longer

he’s the Joe Pa of Alabama football. They will wheel his corpse out for a couple years even when he can’t walk just due to his inspiration on team (before the stuff came out on Joe Pa & others)

100% this.

Plus just the story coming full circle would be pretty awesome.

Oh and the melt would be all time and worth it for that alone

I tried to tell you, and yes this was before kickoff.

Maybe if you listen to the houndstooth, take the advice of the houndstooth, someday you will no longer be a houndstooth wannabe.

Until then you will be LSU doing LSU things.

Saban for sure. Riley is still a flight risk to the NFL even though that's cooled a bit. The bigger thing for me though is that this game isn't an abnormality for Lincoln Riley. He's still a great coach that would win a ton here, but he will never make a Saban esque dynasty because he has trouble convincing his kids that they aren't hot shite so they get their teeth kicked in by someone inferior (they don't always lose).

Nicky. He will keep coaching at bama til he’s 106 if he doesn’t come here.

Riley’s just this years hot name in the coaching searches. These hot names change every year. Not long ago Gary Patterson was highly sought after.
