This reminds me of the hype built around Tom Herman. Herman was the next "Urban Meyer" ..... Right..... This feels like a very similar situation. "Napier is the next great coach"...... The next Saban.... Yea I dunno about this guy

Major difference is Napier has built something from not much and sustained it with a strong process.

Always felt Herman was a great risk. Must admit, I was disappointed when he went to Texas and we got O. Even so, knew he might be a flash in the pan.

Herman quit on the kids at Houston while playing LSU for a fool. Napier won’t do that. He’ll lead his team to another bowl win before deciding if he’ll take the LSU job.

Herman had some major skins on the wall when he was at Houston though.

He beat FSU in the Peach Bowl, with a top 10 finish. He also opened the following season with a win over Oklahoma, and beat #3 Louisville with Lamar when it looked like they were cruising to the CFP.

Napier has Iowa State.

The same can be said about all of the candidates.

Let’s get three things straight:
1. Herman is an annoying weirdo Dabo cult leader wannabe
2. For this reason, I’m glad he was never HC at LSU
3. His biggest mistake was taking the UT job over LSU, because he probably would’ve won a natty here.

So... not really an insult to be compare someone to Herman, at least not in terms of “would this guy have done well at LSU”. Texas is where you send coaches to die.

Herman would have been better at LSU than Texas, IMO.
