Take the purple and gold glasses off: Is LSU a Top 5 Job in the Nation? Why/Why not?

No one doubts that Louisiana is a talent rich state and makes for fertile recruiting grounds. Plus LSU doesn't have another serious in-state rival to compete. But cons are lack of administrative and school support. Baton Rouge is not necessarily "happening" town. Would you objectively consider LSU a top 5 job in college football?
My top 5:
1. Alabama - T-town sux but Saban has built it into a powerhouse and that legacy will last a while)
2. USC - Hollywood, Rose bowl, so-cal weather, incredible brand
3. Texas - Huge brand, almost unlimited $$ and resources
4. Notre Dame - history, brand, legacy,
5. LSU - only school that can say it's last 3 coaches have all won National Championships.
Other considerations for Top 5:
Oklahoma
Georgia
Texas A&M
Michigan
Ohio State

Swing and a miss. USC does not play it’s home games in the Rose Bowl

This isn’t a purple and gold glasses thing.
Most CFB media consider LSU a top 5 job. It’s talked about very frequently

One of the most fertile recruiting states, no other big program in the state, SEC resources.
It's arguably the best job for those that want to win a national championship... something our last three head coaches have done.
No other program can say that in the BCS/CFP era.

Never said they played their home games in the Rose Bowl (I know it's the Coliseum)....but they are synonymous with the Pac-12 + Rose bowl appearances.

It’s probably a top 10 job, not top 5
Interestingly, I’ve always thought that if the school really committed to football, UCLA could be a top 5-10 job.
MUCH MUCH better campus than USC, plays in a better stadium than USC. Based on where it is located and where they play, it’s a crime that UCLA has not been significantly better historically

You should probably rephrase/clarify your OP them because it reads like their home stadium is the Rose Bowl

It's about two things: willingness to spend on salaries and facilities, and proximity to recruiting territory. By those criteria LSU is a top 5 job.

It’s not. ND is a better job than USC.
USC is in a conference that doesn’t emphasize football like the middle to the east of the country, it’s in a transient town, and the administration does not commit tot football like 30 other teams do.
USC is stil a premier job but OSU, UT, LSU, UGA, Bama, and ND are all better jobs no doubt. Maybe even Florida, Clemson, Michigan, aTm, PSU. Those schools are also in talent rich areas but with administrations that commit to football.
Oregon has better facilities. Does Washington? I’d be willing to bet MSU, and Wisconsin do too, but I’m not saying those are better.

LMAO just take the L. The top reason LSU is a top 5 job is that we are the only power 5 school in one of the most talent rich states.

Top 10 for sure. 3 National titles and 4 SEC titles in the last 20 years. SEC TV $$$, Facilities, salaries, only P5 in fertile state, SEC West.
I would put UGA, FLA and of course our friends in Tuscaloosa in top 10. Aggie has the $$$ but no on field success.

We bust balls on BR a lot here, but the BR experienced by an LSU HC is a lot different than Plank Road.

L.A. ain't what it used to be. Have you seen pictures of it lately? Besides, USC fans are only aware of the Trojans when they're contending for national titles. Until then, they don't really care.

I have seen prominent college football analysts, not fans of LSU, say it is absolutely a top 5 job.

Not anymore. Difficult environment having to deal with some of the most meddling boosters in the country running interference.

Agree that Bama and Texas are jobs above LSU.
Ohio St, Texas A&M, Georgia, Oklahoma, Florida, are probably all on our level maybe slightly above or below.
USC and Notre Dame are both below the other teams listed. Along with Michigan.
