I don't think he's actually Tiger Ree.. I'm assuming that's just the running joke here.
By all accounts, he was just a lackey for Orgeron who tried to clean up his messes. There was the story about how he tried to get reporters (namely Rece Davis) to not speak poorly of Orgeron and LSU. He really was Orgeron's Minister of Propaganda.
We probably rag him harder than we should, but I think we've all just been looking for a singular scapegoat.
I do think it's ridiculous, though, that a convicted felon was put in charge of academic affairs (whatever his title is?).

He was a sports personality, who so wanted to be in the LSU inner circle. He conned Ed into being his mouthpiece. He most likely set his sights on keeping Miles around, because he knew Ed wouldn't get the permanent job. Then it looked like he went to work to get Les fired, so Ed could assume the interim role.
Once inside, Derek put the binder together.
So we suspect a radio guy was vetting coaches and whispering in Ed's ear on who to hire. It looks like we are where we are because of a fan influencing a HC, and also ran a con on the AD, and the AD fell for it.
