I will be the first to say that new hires are messy and nothing and nobody is a sure thing.

That being said, I believe he is the guy and we would likely make mistake if we look to make a splash hire by trying to hire the big name. He excels in the areas that i think would put LSU in the national title picture regularly.

- Culture: His players love him and are completely bought in to the program. They had several power 5 type kids who had the opportunity to transfer to bigger schools but decided not to because of him and the culture they have. They play incredibly hard for him and are very team oriented. Outside of 2019, LSU has had serious culture and attrition issues under Les & O. Lack of effort on the field and kids moving on before they should. Year after year, we’ve had juniors with 7th round & FA grades that go to the draft while Bama would have kids return with late 1st and 2nd round grades. We haven’t been able to compete with that. I feel like Billy is more capable to fix that.

- Recruiting and developing the line of scrimmage: We’ve seen massive drop off here with our line play. Billy has built that program from the inside out with emphasis on the offensive and defensive lines. One example is their OT Max Mitchell. He was recruited by nobody and is now considered a top 15 OT and will likely get drafted. Several of their OL could start for LSU today. I’d love to see the beasts that he could draw to LSU and develop them.

There are others , but I feel like the 2 issues above are hugely important moving forward.

He’s won big at a school with limited resources….26-5 since his first year. He’s coached with the best (Saban, Dabo, etc.) and has seen first hand how to do it. He knows how to build a program, coach, and recruit.

Billy just has the “it” factor. That’s the reason Auburn and South Carolina wanted him directly after interviewing him. Dudes a winner and I could see him at LSU for a long time. With our resources, I feel like he can take us to the next level.

You make some great points, and if we strike out on a couple of the other bigger names on the list (e.g. Riley, Kiffin, etc), then I would be happy with Napier.

He's just not the first name on the list, but if history is any guide, he may be the only name on the list when it is all said and done.

why is kiffen higher on the list than Napier?

in comparable jobs

Lane @ FAU- 26-13 with a 5-7 season in there & 18-6 in conf usa.

Napier @ULL- 33-12 with no losing seasons and if you take out the first year and only include last three

26-5 and 17-2 in conference.

has kiffen done something at UT, USC or OM to make him some stellar candidate i dont know about?

Good for him. Let’s just remember that he’s doing all this winning while playing a schedule that would be like 110 in the country for strength of schedule

His schedule is the conference standard, there's not anything he can do about that other than win the games on the schedule.

Plus it's not like he's got that schedule with SEC talent and resources and he's winning, he's got the Sunbelt equivalent talent to work with and he's winning. Plus have you seen the total lack of resources and fan support he gets at ULL? Their stadium is constantly 3/4 empty for home games and there's nicer high school stadiums in Texas.

He's basically taken a very "meh" program historically that didn't care about football or put any resources into it, and turned it in to a winner and top of the conference. He's had the only two 10 win seasons in school history and is on his way to a third.

Read up on his process, smarts, organization, recruiting, and coaching model. He's taken the Saban process and made his own tweaks to it to fit the talent he can get, and it's been successful. Imagine what he can do with stellar athletes and all the resources any college HC could ever need.

Max Mitchell This guy is a beast. I believe he will have another year of eligibility after this season. If Napier did get the job, could Max follow via the portal.

Max Mitchell is a Neville guy (like Campbell and Sale) If Napier brought Rob Sale with him, that could possibly happen

Beast

Neville is an o line factory

Then you could easily provide a link to the box score of the game that Napier won the championship. Or hell, just tell us the year Napier won championship, and we can look up the score ourselves.

ULL and Coastal Carolina were named co-champions in 2020 after their conference championship game was canceled.

So technically, he has won his conference.
