Starting Lineup:
CF- Dylan Crews- Hasn’t hit in the scrimmages yet, but we know Dylan Crews.

1B- Tre Morgan- Same as Crews, but once again we know Tre can hit, and his defense at first is exceptional.

3B- Jacob Berry- Seems like every ball that comes off his bat his 100+ MPH. Real Real Talent.

LF- Gavin Dugas- Huge Power.

2B- Cade Doughty- Always has had a lot of potential, just needs to stay consistent with his swing because this guy has the talent.

RF- Brody Drost- If Drost can keep consistent with his bat there’s no way you can take him out of the lineup, he has big power, ball jumps off his bat.

SS- Jordan Thompson- Looked great at short this weekend. Also really hit.

DH- Brayden Jobert- Jobert can really swing it, a lot of different options with the lineup for Jay Johnson.

C- Alex Milazzo- I think if the hitting improves even just slightly it’s his job to lose behind the plate, just to valuable back there with his arm and has a lot of experience.

Other Players of Note:
Jack Merrifield- 3B/2B. This kid can really glove it, won JUCO National defensive player of the year last year, bat impressed me this week.

Blaise Priester- This kid has so much pop. Hit one over the bleachers Thursday and took one out to the deepest part of left center Friday. Big Arm behind the plate.

Cade Beloso- Always has that potential with the bat.

Gio Digiacomo- Plus speed, great glove, can hit.

Josh Stevenson- Younger brother of Andrew, this kid showed out in center today, really surprised me with the bat this week, can really swing it.

There are many others as well who will likely have a chance to crack a lineup. Lots of guys that can play and make a difference .

Starting Pitchers: Variety of options here.

Friday- Eric Reyzelman- Sat 93-95 today with his heater if he can stay in the zone, could be one of the best arms in the SEC next year.

Saturday- Ty Floyd- Real Stuff, like Reyzelman if he can stay around the strike zone he can be pretty effective.

Sunday- Cale Lansville- Great Pitchability, Curve looked great today, as he gets more experience should just get better and better.

Midweek- Bryce Collins - Like his pitchabilty, good fastball, lot of options here.

Bullpen Arms:
Garret Edwards- Could easily be in the starting rotation.

Devin Fontenot- I see him closing some games, Jay Johnson had said he wants to use his pitchers like the Rays so we can see all kinds of things with these pitchers.

Blake Money- If he can be consistent, could be a big piece for us.

Paul Gervase- Imposing presence on the mound. Fastball was around 92-94. Can be a real weapon.

Ma’Khail Hilliard- We know about the curve, could start some games as well.

Javen Coleman- Could be a great lefty arm out of the pen or starting a game.

There are lots of guys not on here that I’m forgetting right now, but these are a few of the notables. Several Freshmen Arms that can really help us.

If anyone wants anymore information about a player just let me know.

Disclaimer: These could be way off, just my projections and some of my thoughts as of now after the first couple weeks of scrimmages.

I’m so excited about baseball this year. Jay Johnson just seems to bring it all, good character, razor sharp, good assistants, attention to detail, player’s coach, etc. I wholeheartedly believe that he’s going to pull the potential out of our program and bring us back to where we can and should be

I will probably revisit this subject after fall but I agree with most of that.

Merrifield and Berry will be the battle to watch at 3B and that could be a split time situation.

Drost vs Gio is the battle in the outfield. Stevenson looks really good but might have to wait his turn.

Stevenson and Pearson are both really good. I've said it several times but a buddy that has seen them both play alot thinks Stevenson is the better player - of course, rankings say otherwise but still something to think about.

Brant Smith is another young kid that can really swing it.

Riley Cooper is going to pitch big innings for this team, be it a starter or stopper or just high pressure inning guy.

I'm not ready to crown Floyd a starter yet unless he's developed ALOT. He seems like a 1 inning wipe out guy. I'd instead think that Cooper, Coleman, Hilliard, or Fontenot are in it for the Saturday slot. I'm fine with Lansville on Sundays but it's just really too early to tell how JJ/Kelly wants to manage his innings - they may prefer him to get his feet wet during the week first.

I have been watching that battle between Pearson and Stevenson. I would say Stevenson is clearly better on the defensive side. The bats have been about equal, giving the overall edge to Stevenson.

I doubt a player that is a projected Top 10 draft pick will split time

That's about what I got. I've never seen either play. Stevenson is way faster - Pearson isn't slow but he's kinda clunky. Pearson has more pop but Stevenson is a very disciplined hitter that can get on base alot of different ways.

Lansville needs to show more before him being talked about as a weekend starter. I know he was highly thought of coming in; but of what I’ve seen in his 2 appearances so far, I have not been very impressed.

He will have a chance, but if Drost hits he stays.

Can’t wait for this season. No more CPM, and a loaded lineup that is going to rake!

I haven’t really kept up with baseball since the end of the season. Is Bianca still on the team?

Yep, he hasn’t been playing though, I think he’s out with an injury.

Can you explain this for those of us who don't watch MLB? (I much prefer college vaseball.)
