They’ve all had enough of Sinclair.

Major League Baseball is in talks to launch a nationwide video-streaming service that would enable fans to watch their teams’ hometown games without a cable-TV subscription, The Post has learned.
The web-based service — which could address a decades-old annoyance for baseball fans that some have partly blamed for the league’s steadily declining viewership — could launch as early as the 2023 season, a person with direct knowledge of the negotiations said.
The National Basketball Association and the National Hockey League are also considering partnering with MLB on the new streaming service, sources said. Insiders say subscription rates would vary by geographic market and could be between $10 and $20 a month — well below the monthly cost of most cable-TV packages, which can easily stretch past $100.

At first, sources said Sinclair tried to persuade MLB to allow it to control the service for several years before handing the reins to MLB. But the league wasn’t having it, citing Sinclair’s financial condition and raising concerns that the company won’t be able to spend the money that’s needed for high-quality broadcasts, sources said.

You mean I will no longer have to hop in my car and drive 8 hours to Atlanta to watch the game on a Tuesday like MLB thinks I can?

It’s ridiculous how hard it is to watch the pelicans without cable.
We’re obviously not the only market that thinks this

Would love to see NFL and NCAA follow suit. It's amazing that cable companies or streaming services haven't come out with a true a la carte model yet. The first one to do it will dwarf the rest in subscription numbers.

The Bally Sports App is worse than Fox Sports Go which I didn't think was possible.

Sinclair was a disaster this season and so many streaming services and cable companies didn’t put up with Sinclair’s bull shite. I’m glad the sports leagues are realizing how terrible Sinclair was and are doing something about it.

About time.
It's an interesting discussion what this will mean to a lot of questions. A lot of the carriers aren't interested in carrying RSNs anymore. As they battle cord cutters and try to cut costs to consumers, many are letting the RSN deals expire. Dish dropped the Fox RSNs and has no plans to bring them back.
Obviously the TV deals are huge sources of money for the teams. These teams get decades long billion dollar TV deals from the networks which are based on subscriber fees from the carriers...many of whom have no interest in paying for the networks. Obviously they aren't going to follow over to pay for a streaming service so the teams lose a ton of money by going direct to consumer rather than having blanket subscriber fees for RSNs.
