I would walk with him wearing a safety vest to make sure he got across both of those damn bridges safely

I think Chicken needs to change the name of this board from “Tiger Rant” to “Napier Board”.

Napier wants total control in who he hires and who he keeps on a new staff. He doesn’t want all the input from boosters and good ol boys which is why he turned down some of the other sec jobs. He’s not going to set himself up to fail bc of other people and who he’s told to keep or not keep. If he fails somewhere it will 100% be on his shoulders.

And of course he’d walk across the basin bridge to coach at Lsu. He’d be a fool not to. A New Year’s Day bowl is the absolute ceiling at ULL and even that would require and undefeated season.

You know that for certain or just your opinion?

I don’t believe he’s the top target, but Woody is smarter than to totally exclude someone outright. He seems like an AD that would do his due diligence and explore all options.

You can bet saban has given woody all the intel he needs on Napier and also kiffin. But I am thinking woody brings in someone with power 5 experience.

He isn't qualified for LSU. Let him go be a big fish somewhere else.

Jay Johnson didn’t fit the “Woodward mold” either. I mean he did ok at Arizona and then obviously had a good run on the backend, but it wasn’t like they were Vanderbilt or Florida. Best two seasons in conference were 1st and 3rd, couple of 4ths. Not world beating. I could see a Napier hire.

I wholeheartedly trust Woodward’s abilities. If he thinks Napier is the man for the job, I’m on board.

Napier does well with Louisianas 2nd Tier Talent. Just imagine what he'd do with our Best!

I agree that Johnson was not what we’ve come to understand as a “Woodward hire,” which I like because I think it proves that he’s more open than we think and is gonna put a lot of weight into recommendations and the interview process. He’s gonna hire someone who has a clear vision for the program, a plan to implement that vision, high expectations, and a great ability to communicate those. But I think you underestimate Johnson’s resume. It’s a lot better than how you described it.

He’s 100x more qualified than the last LSU coach we hired. We hired a guy with a losing record at Ole Miss…..let that sink in.

Think Auburn would have hired a coach like that and this coach told Auburn to kick rocks….

At a minimum, Woodward promised sincere and serious consideration if the LSU job were to come open.

I agree. How he wasn’t a serious contender for Auburn or South Carolina is mind blowing. I think he was just testing the waters.

Asked someone last weekend who is going to very much be involved in the internal discussions about the new HC “what about Napier?”

This was their EXACT response:

I’m not saying LSU should or should not at least consider him. But THIS AD, unlike the prior one, looks for a big name and works to get the money in place to make the target have a tough time saying no. That’s going to be the approach on the search. If Napier is ultimately the guy it will be because LSU was told no by a lot of big names

I think it's a very real possibility that dabo takes sabans place, and Clemson goes after napier hard.
He would be an ideal fit for them
