In other words, will the next hire come to stay (as long as he is winning) or use this as an interim or stepping stone job... I know every candidate will have a different M.O., but what do you prefer?

There really isn't a higher spot to go. It's an elite job with essentially unlimited resources in the best conference in football.

Yes. It’s LSU. Talent rich state, the flagship, fan support, culture. LSU is a top 5 coaching destination.

A stepping stone to where?

Unless a guy is an alumni of a P5 school and they come calling, I would think someone would stay here as long as they possible could.

P5 in the SEC
Name recognition
Recruiting hotbed

The only problem is you have to live in BRLA.

I could see Fickell taking but leaving for OSU as soon as it opens.. just curious how SW thinks about it

If you are super rich most of the problems that BR has don't really impact you.

Possible. It doesn’t appear OhioSt will be open anytime soon tho

In any case, if OhioSt wants Fickell down the road then that means he’s done some good/great things at LSU. So it’s a win-win

Really? I can think of at least 10 jobs better than LSU. Baton Rouge/LSU isn't the Shangri-la a lot of locals think it is.

I’m fine with the next coach leaving for the nfl. Because that means we were very good.

Alabama is generally considered a top 2 job and Tuscaloosa isn't some super nice place to live either.

Coaches want to win. Alabama is a much better job than Arkansas but I'd much rather live in Fayetteville.

As someone else pointed out, if you’re rich, all cities are the same.

LSU is absolutely one of the Top5 jobs in America (what lofts it up is being the only major school in the state)

Not a stepping stone, but it isn't exactly a dream job either. There are so many issues with the administration all the way up to the governor that all bit sabotages the program its absurd.
