If people are saying LSU games are still on at Standard, think you’d rather have the added flexibility of already being in Wicker.
I just drove by there an hour ago and there is still LSU signage and flags flying everywhere... Personally, I didnt enjoy watching games there, but it def is still LSU...

I’m from Houston just seems like Houston zoo and museums are just as good. Maybe not?

The Field Museum is fantastic.

Suggestion only, we did a bike and food tour which was great. Stopped for slice of pizza, Chicago dog, dessert, beer and saw tons of the city while riding in a big group around. It was great way to see the neighborhoods. Also, do the Chicago Art museum and the Museum of Science and Industry. The building and the U Boat exhibit are worth the trip alone. Field museum and the aquarium are next to Soldier Field. Can take a boat back to the Navy pier from the Aquarium which is good view of city. Finally, Architectural Tour on the river is must do also. Have fun!
Added, to visit the restaurant which was the inspiration for the John Belushi SNL Chee-burger, chee-burger skit. It’s right near the Michigan Ave Bridge on the ground level.

Been to Chicago many times. It's a favorite of me and the Mrs.
Sounds like you've got a pretty good plan already so I'll just post some of our favorites. River North and Wrigleyville are3 our favorite stomping grounds.
Brunch: Barrio
Pizza: Lou Malnoti's
Ramen: Ramen-San (best ramen I've ever had)
Upscale day drinks/food: Cindy's on top the Chicago Athletic Club
Upscale dinner: Girl and the Goat
Wrigley Sports Bar: Slugger's
Fun day bar: Punch Bowl Social - has great food and drinks, bowling, pool, darts, board games, etc
LSU bar for the game: The Standard
Nightclub: Prysm
Rooftop: can't go wrong most places, Whiskey Business is pretty fun but we found the food lacking.
If it is open, you should definitely check out the comedy club: Second City. It's an improve style place where a lot of big comedians got their start like Steve Carrel, Tina Fey, Jon Balushi, among others. We went to a show here before covid and had a blast.
My advice is to have a loose plan and don't be afraid to wander around. That's how we have found so many places that we like and were to drunk to remember.
I'd also follow chicago instagram accounts to discover stuff too. Like chicago bucket list and chicago food authority,

have a reservation at Cindy's as well as Girl and the Goat. Punch Bowl. That ramen spot looks interesting may check that out if we're in the area.
Would you recommend this place over Pequods? It's super convenient to our hotel.

Both are good - you won't be disappointed choosing one over the other, but Lou Malnati's does have near 60 locations throughout Chicagoland. Pequod's has one other location in the North Shore.
Personally, I prefer Art of Pizza and, newer to the scene, Milly's Pizza In The Pan.

Whiskey Business does have a rooftop, but there is no view + the crowd can get a bit rowdy. If that's what you're looking for, may as well check it out.
If I were to recommend a low-key alternative, walk a few blocks north on Milwaukee and go to The Robey. If you're there before 5:00pm, Cabana Club has nice seating arrangements on the sixth floor with city views. Once it hits 5:00pm, try grabbing a seat at The Up Room, which is on the 13th floor. Doesn't sound high up, but no building obstructions anywhere in Wicker. In my opinion, best view of downtown.

One other fun thing to mention going back to possibly hitting up breweries. Dovetail and Begyle are co hosting an anniversary/Oktoberfest party this weekend on Saturday and Sunday. Look to be tapping some interesting stuff too.
Weather looks great this weekend so I’m planning to walk over on Saturday after the lsu game.

Anyone ever been to Graystone Tavern in Chicago for a soccer game? Looks like that’s the Chelsea bar and they’re gonna have the UCL trophy there tomorrow thinking about hitting it up for the game since LSU will likely get blown out by Florida.
Just curious if it’s a cool scene or worth it to hit up?

Been a few times. Good bar. Used to watch Vikings games there if Redmond’s (no longer open) was at capacity.

My wife and I had a fantastic time ending our night at the Library underneath the Gilt bar. I can't recommend it enough.
I think it only opens on certain days. So I'd check ahead

Next door to the only bar I really like in Wrigleyville... The Nisei Lounge..
Did you end up going?

Yeah I watched the first half of the LSU game at DS Tequila, then went to Graystone for the second half of the Chelsea game. Then ended up watching the 4th quarter of the LSU game at a bar in the area that had a cool atmosphere, forget the name.

Thanks everyone for the recommendations. I ended up using a lot of the recommendations and had a great trip. Chicago is an awesome city and will definitely probably be back again at some point since there is so much to do.

I took a quick trip to Chicago last weekend and stayed at the Palmer House in the Loop for two nights. I can get there in about 80 minutes from my house if there's minimal traffic. The Palmer House is cool because it's old and historic. I get a nice Hilton family & friends discount. I wouldn't stay there if I had to pay full price. I was in a basic room and the bed was comfortable but the room itself was small and the bathroom was tiny and worn. The brownie was supposedly created there in the 1800s. I had one and it was delicous.
I left home on Friday morning. Before I checked in to the hotel I knocked two more hot dog places off my list. Fatso's Last Stand- top notch char dogs and Lola's Coney Island which serves Detroit style coneys. The typical chili topping with an excellent Vienna beef dog underneath. I'm trying to eat at all the places on the 20 Essential Hot Dogs in Chicago list. I've been to 10. I'd be at 12 but 2 that were on last year's list that I was at have been replaced with 2 that I haven't visited.
I parked my car at the Grant South Parking Garage, which is pretty close to the hotel. I paid $26 on Spot Hero for 3pm Friday thru 8am Sunday which is a good deal. I didn't have in and out privilege but I didn't need it.
A friend of mine always raves about the pizza at Exchequer so since it was about a 3 minute walk I ate there for dinner. I had the "Mob" pizza, deep dish style with Italian sausage, pepperoni, Italian beef, and fresh garlic. Really good, not too bready, generous on the meats and plenty of garlic.
Saturday I walked to the Field Museum which someone mentioned in this thread. I spent most of my time in the Africa exhibit and the dinosaur section. Some displays are more dated than others as is the norm at this type of place but overall I was really impressed. Sue the T. Rex is there along with Maximo the titanosaur. A must see for anyone who has any interests in dinosaurs at all.
For lunch I met friends at Crazy Bird Chicken in the West Town area. Some of the best fried chicken I've ever had. Then we went to Hoosier Mama Pie Company, a favorite of my friends. We tried 7 or 8 different pies with the coconut cream being my favorite.
We drove through Humboldt Park and stopped at the boat house and to look at flowers. My buddy showed me the spot where his grandparents lived.
For dinner I ate at The Berghoff, which has been on my list for awhile. Excellent potato pancake appetizer and a very good Reuben sandwich.
I've got my favorite places to go in Chicago but this time I made it a point to go to all places that I've never been, with Humboldt Park being the exception. I hope to go again this fall for a weekend.

Yes, absolutely no reason to not take the L from ORD. Cheaper and you can then uber to hotel once you get off.

Dude is just trying to let you know that you’ll get mugged on the Blue Line. Lame shite to say. You’ll be fine, just as countless TD posters have lived to tell the story
I’ve lived along three different Blue Line stations (Division, California and Chicago) + commuted to work on it for years. The worst I’ve personally seen is a pile of shite or some guy talking to himself. Not ideal, obviously, but there’s far worse in Chicago to worry about than the Blue Line.
This. If you can't handle the blue line, hand in your baw card and your super duty keys, there is a nice Chevy Malibu waiting for you. That train is friggin harmless.
