Republican to Independent?

Any others left the repubs since November? I can’t stand them anymore and changed my voter registration. Any pros or cons by doing this?
I’m not sure how primary voting will work now. I’m in KS and could only vote in republican primaries before I switched. I really was hoping more people would do this but no one I know has. I’m not sure if voting matters and may have not my entire life after last November.

Did this over 15 years ago.

Did it in December when I realized many Republicans were in on the steal

The handful of elected officials I actually like are all republicans. I can't think of any elected independents I like, which happens to be the same number of elected democrats I do. Therefore, the republican party still seems the best means to getting what I want electively.

I considered it; but stayed in the party to vote against RINO's in the primaries.

I’m registered R and I’ll vote for who will be best, mostly local, but I’m not straight ticket.

A vote for a third party is a vote for Hillary, or Biden, or whatever shitty candidate is running that year. I get so sick of hearing that. The system that delivered Joe Biden and Donald Trump as the ONLY two people that can run the most powerful country in the world is an obviously broken system.
Been voting Libertarian since '92 and will continue to do so. I don't care if my vote is 'wasted'.

Ronald Reagan once said "I didn't leave the democrat party, they left me." That's the way I feel about the republican party.

Would consider myself independent but would never vote for today’s democrat so I’m whatever that makes me I guess

I left the Republican party in 2006. They are now left of where Bill Clinton was in 1997. Not the party for me.

Switched to Independent in January. That party isn't looking out for any of us.

Switched to independent. The Republicans response to the election was the end for me.

The only con is that, unless you are in a state with a jungle primary, you can't vote in primary elections.
Frankly that doesn't sway me enough to register for a party.

Good job. Mitch McConnel and Kevin McCarthy support your decision to allow them to win the primaries without any resistance.
So you don't like the Republican party, and instead of trying to fix it, you take your ball and go home. Well done!

The enemy of good is perfect. Seeking perfection is laudable from a philosophical aspect, but applying it politically with all of the shenanigans going in is suicidal. The better run opposition will beat you every time. Just because your team is not winning or perfect enough, is no reason to sit out every play. You would be considered a poor team member. And rightfully so.

Every state I've ever voted in does not have party registration. During primaries, you choose which one you want to vote in at the polls.

Don't leave the party, change it. Trump was the first strong step. We need you to vote in the primaries to get the RINO's out. Only way America survives.
Here's the reality:
- As an independent, you can't vote in the R primary (in some states)... so we get a RINO candidate. Which means you'll either end up voting for that RINO or giving your vote to some 3rd party candidate with no chance of winning, which is the same as voting for the Democrat.
Instead... I would like to see all INDEPENDENTS BECOME REPUBLICANS, vote the mother f'ing RINO's out, and save our nation!!
Don't let your passion control your reason.
Last word, don't give a dime to the GOP. Give it to your MAGA candidate's campaign directly.
