Was in the Garden center at Home Depot in Gonzales this weekend. There were over 250 generators on pallets outside in the garden center. I asked the guy in the back if they were all broke. He said as soon as the power came back on, they were getting 50+ returns a day.

Hmm. Lowe’s had non returnable signs on their generators. I wonder if that was enforceable

Why? Why wouldn’t you hold onto it until the next storm? We do live in south LA, hurricanes aren’t uncommon.

Generator Returns at Home Depot

Lowes was veyr clear on their policies for both generators and chainsaws. No refunds. The thing is people are using ta copy of the receipts for tax deductions or reimbursements.

Harbor Freight had $800 returned generators going for $400. None had the smell of gas in the tanks.

They were either rentals, which is most likely, or they were there for repairs

They weren’t returns. I can promise you that

I know people have different financial situations but I don’t understand why people don’t have some type of generator just in case. We have so many different weird weather events that you need some form of back up power. I know not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to afford a generator to run your whole home but everyone should have something.

I did this with an AC when ours went out in our house.

It was 105 outside so I went to Walmart and bought a window unit, it cooled the inside down to 78 or so.

Once we got he central unit fixed I boxed the window unit up and returned it for 100% refund

Haven't read through every message so this may have been posted already but both Lowes and Home Depot had signs saying something along the lines of "Generator returns allowed within 30 days of purchase and only if box has been unopened"

They typically don't let you return them once you put gas in them.

Buying something like that, using it then returning it after is the height of trashiness. Not surprised the trashy people of Baton Rouge Gonzales would do such a thing
