Too many variables at play. House is $400k with $3200 yearly. $550 flood or something close to it. 1/2% and 2% storm.

And you know what? The ugly arse tree I wanted to come down stood strong as frick. The beautiful hundred year old live oak that is the centerpiece of my front lawn was destroyed. Also had some significant water damage from wind blown rain, too. frick me. I’ll never wish for another hurricane again. frick that shite.

What kind of cracker box does one get for 210K-300K in Lousyana?
Posted on 9/23/21 at 3:07 pm to Duzz
$2200 (home value $230k)
$2500 deductible for everything, including hurricane
I also have flood insurance, I think that’s $600ish (not in a flood zone)
No idea if $2200 is good, it has steadily risen from 1400 when I bought this house in 2017

Jesus Christ that’s insane. What you guys pay for home and auto to live in the great state of Louisiana is mind boggling.

Premium is about $4,500/year with a 2% deductible for named storms. House was appraised for almost $350K giving me a $7K deductible, as I am under the 2% plan. Some people have 5%.
FEMA is about $600/year.
So total is @ $5,100/year to insure in NOLA 'burb. Zip codes affect your insurance rate for HO and auto, so you might be comparing apples and oranges.

I thought this too, until I moved to TX. My homeowners is at $1900 for 1% deductible, 2% named storm for $300k on house. We can thank all the hail storms for this even though I've never made a claim.
Auto insurance is $700/every 6 months for 100/300/100 on 2 vehicles. So $1400 a year. When I still lived in New Orleans my auto was almost the same.
