I remember as a kid, my parents had all these travel guide books for around the world. What company still makes these? Seems like Amazon has slim pickin's.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I have used travel books from Fodor’s and Rick Steves. They also have some of their information on their web sites.

I bought Rick Steves Best of Spain book the other day and I really like it. Lots of good color pictures and not just black and white like a lot of books.

I always pack a lonely travel guide because it’s informative and fun to read prior to the trip

I usually do if it’s somewhere new that I haven’t been before or if it’s been awhile since I been there

Did you check Barnes and Noble? They still have an entire travel section.

I always check the local library. They always have travel guides that can be checked out. They are usually older versions. If I find one I really like then I buy the latest version of it with updated information.

I second Rick Steves Best of Spain. Rick Steves is pretty much my go to for European travel.

Always grab a Rick Steves and Lonely Planet guide to whatever country I am heading. Like reading them in the run up to the trip and get some initial ideas on where to go, what to see, etc... then if something is particularly interesting, I just rip that section out of the book and toss it in carry-on luggage. This would be something that might have a bit of "travel technical" information like how to take a train from this place to this hard to reach location.

If it's as much a gift as a practical guide, then the NYT 36 hours in Europe book is good for that. Not Spain specific, but one of the better travel book gifts we've found in recent years and has plenty of Spain content.

There is so much information available online and through various Facebook groups the only reason to have a hardcopy is because you want it.
