Storytime: the former teenage Ms. S was upset and giving me tBusiness for flirting with one of her girl friends (never mind the fact she didn’t get mad at the friend who started it, just at me…girls, man) so after lunch i said frick this shite and went home. Turned on espn2, wasn’t a huge soccer fan but saw the final 10-15 minutes of some shite called “champions league” that had an English team not named man United, Liverpool or arsenal, and then this happened

Even if I knew what I was getting into back then I wouldn’t change a thing

Like 2 weeks later was when LSU knocked off Tennessee for Saban’s first big win here and I’ll always remember the stadium roaring as Toefield ran down the sideline and thinking of the way the Leeds crowd responded to that goal

This was the first game I actually watched.

It was like the last twenty minutes while we were rearranging furniture (I moved in maybe two weeks before). It got me interested, and I’ve been on the downward spiral ever since.

1998 World Cup for me. I remember the 1994 Cup, but didn't really get into it. Seeing the crowds of England supporters, hearing their chants and watching this Michael Owen goal got me hooked. 13 year old me was devastated when England lost to Argentina on penalties.

2002 World Cup was when I actually started watching

Jr. High me had summer camp and parents and couldn’t really watch most of the games live, but I had all of the goals on VHS, the original YouTube.

Robbie Keane and Diego Forlan TYFYS

I regret not being a little older because that tournament was straight drama. Roy Keane and Zlatko Zahovic TYFYS

06 Champions League Final which then lead into the 06 WC.
Which I remember 02 before that, but I don’t feel like watching the World Cup is really what got me since I watched 02 before that. (Wasn’t old enough to remember 94 or 98 too much)

I was actually pulling for Arsenal (probably wouldn’t do that today, then again probably would if it were against Barcelona)
Arsenal played with 10 men from the 18th minute on.

Not sure why, but when I read your post title, I thought this was going to end with you becoming the equivalent of Cricket from Always Sunny.

This was the first time a soccer game was ever shown on my tv.

It was magical. The whole summer was. Even Roberto baggios most infamous moment.

I loved the 94 WC, and watched MLS a bunch. Then thought the shootout format was gay. Wasn't til 2004 or 05 when we got Fox Sports World that I became obsessed.

94 WC was it for me

Mom took me to the Spain vs Switzerland match at RFK when I was 9

Got hooked every since

At like most kids, fell in love with those Brazil teams

Didn’t start following United or England for another year. But it was that same thing got home from school turned on ESPN 2 and the champions league was on.
