Very doubtful it would deter the candidates come on stop with this non sense!

The difference between Ed and his peers (the exception being 2019) is that his peers have the abilities to build something from scratch on their own coaching abilities, understanding X and Os, development of players, etc. Campbell at Iowa State being a perfect example of those attributes. The lack of those critical skill sets are likely the best ability to recruit against O. The raw talent in the state of Louisiana, excellent facilities and rabid LSU fans will be sufficient to see the proper ingredients are at LSU for

You don't even have to go back that far. In 2008, one year after the championship, LSU was 3-5 in the SEC. Last year we were 5-5.
The parallels between that year (which Les followed up with 3 more years of some of the worst offense in history) are peculiar. Lost our starting QB in the 3rd scheduled game, left with 2 freshman QB's for rest of year, bad defense, etc.

I suspect Ed will finish the season out, but not for the reasons you list. I think the plan is to give him this season, and if he can't go 9-3, or 8-4 at very minimum (and there will need to be strong performances in the losses), he's out and they can do a proper search.
And the fact is, we don't have anyone remotely qualified on staff to act as interim. So firing him in-season would be the equivalent of forfeiting the rest of the year.
meaning- a loss today (not on a fluke, but a legitimate beating) would absolutely do it. I think getting blown out by SEC opponents other than Alabama would, too- if Kentucky or Arkansas beat us 34-10 or something like that, he doesn't make it to the next game. At that point, it's already gotten to the point where it doesn't matter.

Please tell me how you disagree, I would love to hear something that would change my perspective beyond shrimp boat and rosy finches.

People hate to hear it, and trust me I’m ready for him to be gone too, but OP is right UNLESS we catastrophically go on a crazy losing streak.
People think the sky is falling after UCLA, but the reality is many of these SEC teams are who they are until they prove they can win for an entire season. We’re not gonna go winless in conference like many are predicting.
The question is will 6-6 or 7-5 be enough for admin to do it post season. It should be imo, but will it

1. It’s not just one loss this season. It’s the precipitous fall last year and this year, blaming everything on Pellini, then not improving at all after forcing LSU to pay Pellini’s buy out
2. The immature pic in bed with a slut
3. The fishing camp incident where he acted like trash
4. The immature interaction with a UCLA fan
5. The hiring of inexperienced and unproven coordinators
6. The lack of preparation for the UCLA game
The guy has tremendous passion for the game and for the players. There is little doubt his heart and soul are fully into this. The problem is his behavior is more like player and less like coach. If you're winning championships some of that behavior is colorful and there would be fans cheering on their passionate coach. Who bought a RTWFU shirt or sticker? But if your team is struggling and unraveling these incidents look much worse.
I love Coach O, I just don't know that I love him as the Coach of LSU based on what we are seeing over the last two seasons. I think he took a big swing by hiring guys to run the offense and defense who had never held those types of positions previously. I have confidence in both and I think they will do well. I believe it's going to take time for them to develop. Career wise that was probably not the best approach given the temperature under his coaching seat. He needs a faster turn around and some quicker results. So summed up, it comes down to decision making. He's not showing me the level of discipline and decision making processes that give me confidence in him as a leader of the program. I would prefer someone more professional with a little better self control. Someone who has a vision of building a championship program rather than just a championship season. I don't see that kind of thinking in his approach.
At the end of the day it's all just going to have to play out. It will either work or it won't and Coach O's career hangs in the balance. Unfortunately he is losing the fan base and his challenge has become greater. It comes down to winning football games and that's where he has to focus right now. Whatever the result, I would just like to see better strength and stability in the HC office of this program.
Right now it just feels like a football experiment.

Have you seen us play? We may win 1 game in the SEC. That crazy losing streak is a guarantee.

Money won’t be an issue but I doubt they do it until after the last game. Of course he could do something really nuts like rip his shirt off on the sideline while he’s taking a beating or slugging Saban at mid field after a beat down. That could cause an immediate termination and isn’t out of the realm of possibility.
