What part outside of “The chip shortage” has you confused Mao? There are millions of electrical parts that are unattainable to the production industry that are manufactured in China right now. Why is your head stuck so far in the sand? Seriously, why are you against the US and a China sympathizer?
What part of conservatives are monday morning quarterbacking the frick out of our reliance on china after nary a criticism of trade policy over the past several decades and desperately attempting to pin the blame on liberals or some global cabal because they can't bring themselves to admit that they actually voted for the frickers that fricked us and, if anything, there was at least a whisper of discontent among more progressive types that started long before donald blumpf arrived on the scene and changed their minds overnight

Pure fantasy. You live in a very fake world with really shitty information.
Its almost like your programmed to go into defense mode whenever you even think your "side" is being questioned.
Groupthink.

Taiwan has 61% of the global share of semiconductor manufacturing.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSMC) owns about 54% of global market share, while United Microelectronics (UMC) controls another 7%.
So while TBoy is right, he/she/it misses the bigger point in that China will soon takeover that country without anymore than a strongly worded memo from Biden.

Fire in another microchip plant in Japan

So what is there for individuals to do? Just hope our shite doesn’t break in the meantime?
I’ll put it this way. I have customers in California that have gone to the shore and looked at shipping containers through binoculars two miles out knowing their product is on that ship and still know it’s two months out. They just supply the crew by speed boats. Trust me, Gavin Newsom is the talk of the town in my industry. This is 80% his doing and fricking over a large portion of the country.

I was saying offshoring so much of our manufacturing was a bad idea back in the 90's when HW was celebrating and pushing it.
I voted Perot.

They sent COVID, they're sending Fentanyl, and they're not sending chips. At some point you have to wonder

Reason 7052 we should stop relying on China so much for crucial manufactured parts.

Damn I thought you were talking about potato chips and started to panic
Posted on 9/15/21 at 10:07 pm to TBoy
quote:There are multiple problems associated with ramping up production to replace all these chips. Think about all the chips made in China that aren't available now. Who owns those chip designs? That's right. China, or, Chinese businesses. These other companies can't make the same designs, as those designs are patented and any company trying to reproduce those will face huge patent infringement suits. So, they have to engineer new designs and then source all the wafers and component parts and pieces and, guess what? Supply chains are ALL fricked up right now. It's not just as easy as add production capacity. That can happen quickly. Sourcing everything and having finished designs that will meet the same fit, form and function at the exact same power requirements as the chips they replace is not as simple as you might think.
The largest chip manufacturer is in Taiwan. Taiwan, Hong Kong and South Korea all make as many or more chips than China.

Is deleting his posts a thing or something?
Nevermind I check his post history. How strange.
Is he running for office or doesn't like people being able to throw shite back in his face?

I heard this exact same thing from someone yesterday. They said that the real issue is that this country doesn’t have the technical familiarity to move essential factories back home if it were necessary because the manufacturing processes have become so automated with robotics. We’re becoming obsolete faster than we realized. China is winning.
